ABOUT HEAVISIDE INDUSTRIES
Heaviside Industries builds multi-domain autonomous precision munitions for U.S. and allied special operations and conventional forces. While modern warfare has rapidly evolved with the proliferation of unmanned systems, hyper-precise munitions in contested environments are the future of the battlefield. Economical precision strike capabilities are critical to U.S. and allied war efforts, enabling successful defeat of enemy military assets and infrastructure. Heaviside builds precision munitions designed to operate in GPS-denied and spectrum-jammed battlefields—where traditional systems degrade or fail—without inflated prices or sacrifice to performance.
All engineering and manufacturing is conducted in-house in Heaviside's Los Angeles, CA headquarters and Oslo, Norway office.
Heaviside is backed by Felicis, Hedosophia, Interlagos, Friends & Family Capital, Menlo Ventures, Flume Ventures, Cantos, and others.
ABOUTTHE ROLE
Reporting to the CFO, the Corporate Controller owns global accounting for Heaviside and leads our site controllers in Marina del Rey, CA and Oslo, Norway. You are accountable for one consolidated, auditable set of numbers across a U.S. parent and a Norwegian subsidiary — multi-currency, multi-entity, and manufacturing-heavy — and for building the team, systems, and controls a much larger Heaviside will need.
WHATYOU WILL DO
- Own the global accounting function and lead, coach, and develop the site controllers in Marina del Rey and Oslo — setting shared standards for the ledger, the close, and the control environment across both entities.
- Run the global month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close on a single calendar, and deliver consolidated results on a predictable, shortening timeline.
- Own consolidations end to end: intercompany eliminations and reconciliation, intercompany agreements and transfer pricing execution, cross-border inventory and service flows, and the consolidated trial balance.
- Own multi-currency accounting: functional and reporting currency determination, USD/NOK remeasurement and translation, cumulative translation adjustment, and clear reporting of realized and unrealized FX impacts.
- Produce consolidated U.S. GAAP financial statements, footnotes, and supporting schedules for management, the board, and investors on a monthly, quarterly, and annual cadence.
- Own the consolidated group audit: auditor selection and management, PBC readiness, technical memos, and timely remediation of findings.
- Design and enforce global accounting policies, internal controls, delegation of authority, and close procedures appropriate to a fast-growing defense manufacturer preparing for scale.
- Lead manufacturing and inventory cost accounting across sites as production scales: standard costs, labor and overhead absorption, variance analysis, WIP, excess and obsolete reserves, and inventory valuation.
- Own revenue recognition for hardware and defense programs — contract review, milestone and over-time measurement judgments, and program-level margin reporting — along with the broader technical accounting agenda (ASC 606, 842, 718, capitalization, business combinations).
- Own the global finance systems roadmap: ERP, chart of accounts, consolidation and close tooling, and the automation that removes manual work from the close.
- Oversee treasury and cash operations — global cash positioning and forecasting, FX exposure identification and hedging recommendations, banking relationships, and payment controls.
- Oversee AP, AR, payroll, and procurement accounting in both geographies, and partner with the Oslo controller and external tax advisors on U.S. federal and state tax, transfer pricing documentation, and R&D incentives.
- Partner with FP&A, operations, program management, and supply chain on budgets, forecasts, purchase commitments, capital expenditure, and unit economics.
- Prepare the company for future financing, diligence, and audit-readiness events, including the reporting rigor expected of a larger, more scrutinized business.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years leading accounting teams; experience managing site or regional…
