Musick, Peeler & Garrett LLP is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Generalist to join our Los Angeles office. This is a full-time, non-exempt, on-site position.

The Accounts Payable Generalist works closely with the Director of Finance and Accounts Payable team and is responsible for a variety of accounting functions, with a primary focus on invoice and account reconciliations, expense reimbursements, and related financial reporting.

This position regularly interacts with vendors, attorneys, and staff throughout the firm and requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, organization, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review, code, input, and process vendor invoices and employee expense reports accurately and timely.
  • Facilitate vendor payments, including reviewing invoices, obtaining necessary approvals, and resolving/investigating discrepancies.
  • Prepare and post manual checks as required for certain payments.
  • Research and reconcile monthly account statements, vendor statements, transactions, and account discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, staff, and other departments to verify invoice details, obtain approvals, and ensure accurate processing.
  • Prepare detailed case-related cost reports and other accounting reports as requested.
  • Assist the Accounting team with month-end, and year-end closing activities.
  • Provide coverage within the Accounting team, as needed.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with vendors, attorneys, and staff regarding accounting-related matters.
  • Assist with other accounting, accounts payable, and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting and/or accounts payable experience in a similar role.
  • Previous accounting experience in a law firm environment is required.
  • Experience with Aderant or a comparable legal accounting system is a plus.
  • Proficiency with accounting software, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical, computational, and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced professional environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with attorneys, staff, and outside vendors.
  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative environment, teamwork is essential in this role.
