About The OpportunityA well-established professional services firm specializing in forensic accounting is seeking an entry-level Forensic Accounting Staff Accountant to join its Los Angeles team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, analytical, eager to learn, and interested in developing a career in forensic accounting and litigation support
.
The successful candidate will work closely with experienced accounting and forensic professionals and will have the opportunity to take on increasing levels of responsibility as they develop their technical and professional skills.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain, organize, and manage case-related documents within the firm's document inventory system.
- Review documents received from clients and other parties to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Communicate professionally with clients and attorneys regarding case information and documentation.
- Analyze bank statements, investment records, tax returns, and other financial documents.
- Prepare schedules and summaries of financial data for use in forensic accounting engagements.
- Prepare and review work papers supporting financial analyses and other work products.
- Assist in preparing working files and supporting documentation for court proceedings and settlement conferences.
- Proofread and assist with the preparation of declarations and other documents related to litigation matters.
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate financial and case information.
- Assist senior professionals with research, analysis, and other engagement-related tasks.
- Work independently on assigned responsibilities while collaborating effectively with the broader team.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive financial and legal information.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Basic understanding of financial statements, accounting records, and tax returns.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability and willingness to ask questions, learn quickly, and accept feedback.
- Ability to work effectively under deadlines when required.
- Professional demeanor and ability to interact appropriately with attorneys, clients, and other professionals.
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Quick Books experience is preferred but not required.
- Previous experience in accounting, forensic accounting, litigation support, law firms, or professional services is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of relevant experience working in an accounting firm, law firm, professional services organization, or similar environment may be considered in lieu of a college degree.
