The Direct Bill Triage Accountant plays a critical role in helping newly onboarded and transitioning agencies successfully adopt Patriot's direct bill processes. This temporary position serves as the primary post-conversion resource for agencies, ensuring a smooth transition from legacy workflows to Patriot's standardized commission posting, reconciliation, and reporting procedures.
In this role, you will partner with Direct Bill Operations leadership, regional accounting teams, agency staff, insurance carriers, and cross-functional stakeholders to resolve conversion-related challenges, support process adoption, and ensure direct bill revenue is accurately posted and reconciled throughout the transition period. This position is expected to conclude upon completion of assigned agency conversion activities.
How You'll Make an Impact- Guide agencies through the post-conversion period, helping them understand and adopt Patriot's direct bill processes and procedures.
- Lead recurring meetings and touchpoints with agency staff to review outstanding action items, answer questions, and drive process adoption.
- Identify and resolve conversion-related gaps, errors, and process breakdowns in partnership with Direct Bill leadership.
- Monitor and reconcile direct bill transactions for newly converted agencies to ensure commissions are accurately posted to client accounts and the general ledger.
- Deliver training and job aids on commission processing software, agency management systems, and Patriot's direct bill procedures.
- Collaborate with carrier relations and Operational Design Authority teams to ensure carrier banking, statement delivery, and reconciliation processes function effectively post-conversion.
- Communicate conversion progress, risks, and outstanding issues to leadership on a regular basis.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by enhancing conversion playbooks, training materials, and implementation processes.
- A strong communicator who can explain complex accounting and operational processes in a clear and approachable way.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of the insurance brokerage industry, billing processes, and applicable industry regulations.
- Experience with insurance agency management systems, preferably EPIC and Benefit Point.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including filtering, formulas, pivot tables, and large-volume data analysis.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee, client, and company information appropriately.
- 1 to 3 years of accounting experience within a property and casualty insurance brokerage environment.
- Experience supporting agency conversions, system implementations, or large-scale process transitions.
- Experience using Ascend, Comulate, or similar commission processing platforms.
- Training and coaching experience supporting process adoption and operational change.
- Experience reconciling high-volume direct bill and commission transactions.
