Overview
The Los Angeles County Fire Department is seeking qualified candidates to fill emergency Staff Assistant III vacancies related to a natural disaster. Under emergency order, applicants who meet the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days, with an opportunity for permanent County employment. During your initial work period, you will be assessed on your work performance.
This assessment will be weighted 100%. Those who successfully pass the assessment will be considered for permanent appointment to Staff Assistant III.

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has proclaimed a Local Emergency in response to windstorms and wildfires. We seek qualified individuals to assist the County in mobilizing resources for resident recovery and rebuilding.
Essential Job Functions- Develops the annual branch budget including justifications for salaries and employee benefits, fixed assets, and services and supplies.
- Conducts management studies of branch organization, procedures, operational policies, staffing, management practices, and space allocation; prepares and presents findings and recommendations to enhance branch efficiency and economy.
- Analyzes, evaluates and recommends on the feasibility of new branch functions or modification of existing programs; participates in implementing changes and prepares procedural manuals and instructions.
- Determines the need for and conducts administrative studies and investigations of branch activities; reviews administrative studies and develops and implements new procedures.
- Assists in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of accounting, information and other systems used by the branch.
- Coordinates and participates in contract service agreements for the branch.
- Participates in branch personnel management activities, as directed.
- May supervise a small administrative or technical staff.
Option I
Three (3) years’ experience in a staff capacity analyzing and making recommendations for the solution of problems of organization, systems and procedures, program, facility planning, budget or personnel, one (1) year of which must have been in a responsible staff capacity in the administrative staff organization of a department or a central administrative staff organization.

Physical ClassII - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

Defined as work performed to assist and support administration by doing research and making recommendations to administration for solution of problems of organization, procedure, program, budget, or personnel. - Responsible Staff Capacity:
Journey-level experience requiring working knowledge of rules, regulations, and guidelines; advisory capacity to line managers; includes research, analysis and recommendations on matters such as utilization of personnel, allocation of funds, workload and program procedures. Work under general supervision of the line or division manager. - Administrative Assistant II:
