Reports to the Chief Deputy Assessor / Assessor with a primary purpose of assisting in the preparation of the assessment records and serves as a support position for the mapping, appraisal, exemption programs and personal property staff.

Examples of duties- The bulk of this job is to assist the mapping / appraisal / exemption / personal property staff with preparation of documentation, data entry and customer service support to the public through phone and in office visits.
- Work includes verification and input of correct data through existing Assessor's office software systems.
- Provides assistance in greeting public and answering the telephone, directing questions to the appropriate department and answering questions regarding property assessment and ownership information.
- Work can sometimes require field visits to property to gather and verify information.
- Research historic records of varying content.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
- Ability to organize work and meet established deadlines.
- Knowledge of proper phone etiquette and customer service techniques.
- Skilled in written and oral communication skills.
- Skilled in the use of standard office equipment i.e., computers, printers, calculators, etc.
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office software.
- Skilled in attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with coworkers, supervisors and the general public.
- Skilled in the proper use of spelling, punctuation, and rules of grammar.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two (2) years of experience in the real estate field.
- A valid Washington State driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Qualifications:
- 1 year experience in an Assessor's Office.
- Background in real estate or land surveying.
- Knowledge of Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Requires standing at the counter, walking back and forth to the vault, and moving boxes up to 30 pounds. Work is primarily performed in an office environment; however, some fieldwork on undeveloped terrain is essential. Fieldwork may be performed alone and in remote areas.
