Who We Are Looking For

The Director of Business Development is a strategic leader responsible for driving company growth through identifying, creating, and managing new business opportunities and partnerships, with a specific focus on account penetration across North America. Working closely with senior leadership, this role aligns development initiatives with corporate goals, serving as a key sales and account development contributor. This position requires strong collaboration with pre‑sales, operations, and account managers to ensure cohesive, effective client engagement and growth strategies.

What

You Will Do Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct market assessments and manage business development activities to support growth throughout DoD.
  • Identify and qualify new business development opportunities and assist in capture management and proposal development processes, including opportunity identification, qualification, strategy creation and end‑to‑end pursuit ownership.
  • Maintain the “pipeline” for new business and capture/recapture efforts of existing contracts, ensuring accuracy of the data for all opportunities assigned under this position.
  • Focus new business pursuits on the objectives of the strategic plan from the business being supported. Position Satellite BUCs, Solid State Amplifiers and Transceivers to end‑user agencies/organizations for both sustainment and new deployments.
  • Maintain extensive relationships within the Fed Gov focused System Integrator ecosystem.
  • Participate in the development of annual and long‑range strategic business plans.
  • Support corporate leadership with new business development opportunities, including upcoming target events, market outreach events, contract industry day events, and other important outreach events.
  • Assist with trade show efforts and maintain current trade show booth and materials.
  • Contact prospective customers using networking, referrals from current customers, POC listings from advance RFP postings, and professional organization meetings, conferences, and workshops.
  • Manage the opportunity pipeline process with probability of win calculations, revenue projections, and direct input to the company budget and forecasting process.
  • Perform initial analysis of proposed or actual requests for capabilities, and RFPs to determine technical, schedule, and content reasonableness, and profitability.
  • Determine teaming requirements for prime efforts; identify and qualify industry partners and identify teaming opportunities for subcontracting.
Requirements
  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in Business Development in a DoD contracting environment (highly desired).
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university;
    Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Proven sales/capture track record – project level or higher – in BD, Government Program/Project management, and general management responsibilities.
  • Thorough understanding of complex government processes and procedures.
  • Prior or current experience with Satellite Communications and Equipment preferred.
  • Knowledge of decision makers, strategic direction, and major programs in the subject market space.
  • Current active clearance is a plus; must have the ability to obtain clearance as necessary.
  • Collaborative leader with ability to pull together cross‑functional support for BD initiatives.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
