We are looking for a Commercialization Strategy Analyst (Byproduct Innovation) on the Sustainability team to support new revenue streams across The Wonderful Company. This role sits at the intersection of commercialization, engineering, operations, and sustainability, advancing initiatives that convert agricultural byproducts into food products, animal nutrition, biomaterials, and other value‑added applications.
The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills and business acumen to support early‑stage innovation projects that drive both economic and environmental value.
This position will be based at our West Los Angeles, CA office. We work a hybrid schedule with an in‑office requirement Monday‑Wednesday and the option to work remotely on Thursday and Friday.
Responsibilities- Evaluate new business opportunities for agricultural byproducts through market research, competitive analysis, and financial modeling
- Analyze industry trends across food, feed, ingredients, and sustainability markets to identify growth opportunities and translate ambiguity into clear commercialization pathways
- Develop business cases (EBITDA, CAPEX, pricing, ROI) to inform investment and build vs. partner vs. outsource decisions
- Support development and launch of new food and feed ingredient platforms from concept through go‑to‑market
- Evaluate emerging processing technologies and potential strategic partnerships
- Identify pathways to convert byproducts into higher‑value applications while reducing disposal costs
- Build executive‑ready presentations to support senior leadership decision‑making
- Partner cross‑functionally with operations, R&D, finance, and commercial teams to advance projects from concept to implementation
- Support innovation research initiatives focused on high‑volume byproducts, including collaboration with universities, technology partners, and potential customers
- Track project milestones and communicate progress, insights, recommendations, and key learnings to stakeholders
- Minimum 2‑4 years of experience in product innovation, strategy, operations, consulting, or go‑to‑market roles; exposure to CPG, ingredients, food, agriculture, or sustainability industries preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, agriculture, environmental science, business, public policy, or a related field
- Strong analytical skills with Excel proficiency, including financial modeling and P&L analysis
- Ability to collaborate effectively across cross‑functional teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
- Structured thinker comfortable working in ambiguous, fast‑paced environments
- Intellectual curiosity and proactive problem‑solving mindset
- Willingness and ability to travel as required, including monthly day trips to California’s Central Valley
Pay range: $80,000–$90,000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
