Payroll Manager

Law firm is seeking a Payroll Manager to join their Los Angeles office.

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
• Ensure accurate updates to payroll for new hires, terminations, and pay adjustments
• Prepare, maintain, and distribute payroll records and reports
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour regulations
• Serve as the main point of contact for payroll-related audits (e.g., Workers’ Compensation) and provide supporting documentation
• Monitor industry trends and recommend updates to payroll systems, software, and procedures
• Prepare payroll general ledger documents from ADP for accounting system uploads
• Maintain and manage the firm’s ADP account, including payroll tax filings and multi-state jurisdictions
• Review and approve manual payroll transactions such as terminations and bonuses
• Perform payroll budget reforecasting and reconcile payroll GL vs. actual postings
• Review benefits and overtime reconciliations to ensure accuracy
• Organize and maintain payroll guides, templates, and documentation in the firm’s document management system

• Bachelor's degree
• At least 3‑5 years of payroll experience required
• MS Office Suite & ADP experience required
• Experience managing multi‑state payroll processes
• Strong understanding of payroll operations, controls, and payroll tax compliance
