We are passionate about KIDS! Be a part of a TEAM that helps KIDS grow! Totally Kids Specialty Healthcare is a small pediatric sub-acute hospital with 45 patients. We are the ONLY long-term care hospital dedicated entirely to children. Our residents' ages range from newborn to 21 years of age, and we are dedicated to enriching the health and quality of life for our kids.

We are always striving to meet the medical, developmental, social, psychological, and spiritual needs of our kids. Be part of a TEAM that passionately cares for the ongoing improvement of our residents. We are looking for a Child Development Aide to become a part of our facility's compassionate family.

Position

Description:

To carry out the planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating and directing the Child Development Programs in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards governing the facility, and as many be directed by the Child Development Coordinator, to ensure the recreational and social needs of the residents are met and maintained on an individual basis.

Child Development Coordinator

Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Academic preparation in Child Development with a minimum of 6 units.
  • Clearance of TB test and a copy of the current CPR certification.
  • Ability to lift to 10 pounds unassisted.
Physical Requirements:
  • Reading, writing, and verbal skills.
  • Lifting requirements:
    Generally not lifting or carrying objects that weigh more than 45 pounds.
  • Must be able to discern colors.
  • Physical skills necessary to operate equipment:
  • Must be able to stand, reach in all directions, lift, and carry objects.
  • Must have fine motor skills.
  • Must have 20/20 vision (correction devices allowed) and be able to appropriately read patient information, posted materials, and other written information.
  • Must hear (correctional devices allowed) and comprehend well enough to give and receive information for appropriate completion of duties.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and listen in English with a skill level essential for communication in a position having extensive contact with the general public.
  • Must have normal physical stamina.
  • Must be able to bend and twist.
  • Must have full use of both hands.
Duties

Summary:
  • Assist the Child Development Coordinator with planning, preparing, and implementing all parties and special events.
  • Assist assigned residents in meeting care plan goals.
  • Measure each assigned resident's progress and document all data collected on a daily basis.
  • Assist the Child Development Coordinator with carrying out plans for weekly activity groups.
  • To perform any duty or task as instructed by supervision or those appointed over the position.
Resident’s Rights Functions:
  • Maintain resident confidentiality. Treat residents with kindness, dignity, and respect. Know and comply with residents’ rights rules.
  • Monitor activities to ensure that the resident’s emotional, recreational, and social needs are met.
  • Promptly report resident complaints and grievances to the Child Development Coordinator.
Staff Development Functions:
  • Maintain professional competence through attendance and participation in continuing education programs, in-service seminars, and professional child development programs.
Planning and Inventory Functions:

Recommend to the Child Development Coordinator the equipment, materials, and supplies needed for the Child Development Program.

Safety and Sanitary Function:
  • Promptly report accidents, incidents, unsafe and hazardous conditions, and equipment to the Child Development Coordinator.
  • Ensure that established safety rules and regulations are followed.
