Protecnium is an international consulting firm specializing in engineering and technical services (). We are currently looking for a Concrete Paving Superintendent to join our team for heavy civil infrastructure projects in Los Angeles, USA (100% on-site position).

• Project: Large-scale Heavy Civil Infrastructure Works
• Estimated duration of the position: +24 months
• In general, when the project ends, we try to place the employee in other projects to give him/her continuity.

Summary

The Concrete Paving Superintendent oversees and manages daily concrete paving operations within large-scale heavy civil infrastructure projects. This role is focused on supervising field operations related to formwork, placement, finishing, curing, and jointing of concrete pavements. The selected professional will be responsible for overseeing field operations, managing crews and subcontractors, and ensuring that paving activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with project specifications and schedules.

Main Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage daily concrete paving operations on heavy civil construction projects.
• Coordinate field activities related to formwork, placement, finishing, curing, and jointing of concrete pavements.
• Supervise crews, foremen, and subcontractors to ensure productivity, quality, and safety standards are met.
• Interpret and enforce construction drawings, technical specifications, and method statements.
• Plan and sequence work activities to meet project milestones and schedules.
• Ensure strict compliance with OSHA regulations, safety plans, and company safety policies.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, Quality Control teams, and Survey teams.
• Monitor production rates, material usage, equipment needs, and manpower planning.
• Identify and proactively resolve field issues related to constructability, logistics, and quality.
• Participate in progress meetings and provide accurate field reporting.
• Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9 hours - morning shift (1-hour break)

Requirements

Requirements

• Minimum of 6-7 years of experience as a Superintendent in heavy civil construction projects.
• Proven experience specifically in concrete paving and concrete roadway works.
• Experience on projects such as highways, interstates, bridges, and other large-scale civil infrastructure works.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• English level: C1 (Advanced) - able to communicate fluently with crews, management, clients, and inspectors.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. construction standards, safety regulations, and field practices.
• Ability to read and interpret civil construction plans and technical specifications.
• Strong leadership skills with solid field presence and experience leading crews in demanding production environments.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, schedule-driven projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Professional, reliable, and capable of representing the company on-site with clients and inspectors.
• Willingness to work in the Los Angeles area and relocate if required.
