We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead on-site operations for retail and commercial construction projects throughout the Los Angeles market. This role is responsible for managing daily field operations, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining project schedules, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
The ideal candidate has strong ground-up and tenant improvement (TI) experience within retail, shopping centers, and commercial.
Key Responsibilities- Field Leadership: Oversee all on-site construction activities from mobilization through project closeout.
- Schedule Management: Develop, maintain, and enforce project schedules to meet milestones and delivery dates.
- Subcontractor Coordination: Manage subcontractors, vendors, and site logistics to ensure workflow efficiency.
- Quality Control: Enforce quality standards and ensure work complies with plans, specifications, and local codes.
- Safety Management: Maintain strict job site safety standards and conduct regular safety meetings and inspections.
- Client & Inspector Interaction: Serve as the on-site point of contact for clients, architects, inspectors, and project managers.
- Cost Awareness: Monitor field production and assist with cost control and change order management.
- Documentation: Maintain daily logs, progress reports, inspections, and field documentation.
- 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent in retail and commercial construction.
- Experience with:
- Tenant improvements (TI)
- Shopping centers
- Restaurant build-outs
- Commercial office spaces
- Strong knowledge of scheduling (MS Project or similar).
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
- Proven leadership and communication skills.
