Regional Safety Manager (Orange County)
Location:
Santa Ana, CA
Salary: $105,000 - $160,000
Overview
Our client is a well-established Southern California construction firm is seeking a Regional Safety Manager to support K-12 and higher education projects across the Orange County region. This role will lead field safety efforts, partner closely with project teams and field leadership, and help drive a proactive safety culture across active construction sites. The ideal candidate will bring strong construction safety experience, knowledge of Cal/OSHA and Federal OSHA requirements, and the ability to coach teams, conduct audits, investigate incidents, and support safe project execution in a fast-paced general contracting and construction management environment.
Must Haves
- 5+ years of safety experience within the construction industry.
- Experience supporting general contracting or construction management projects.
- Strong knowledge of Cal/OSHA, Federal OSHA, occupational health standards, and construction safety compliance requirements.
- Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring safety policies, site-specific safety plans, job hazard analyses, and pre-task planning processes.
- Proven ability to conduct field safety inspections, audits, incident investigations, and root cause analysis.
- Strong written reporting skills, including the ability to document incidents, inspections, corrective actions, and compliance-related findings.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach, influence, and build trust with field teams, superintendents, project managers, and leadership.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities across the Orange County region while maintaining strong attention to detail.
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent construction safety training.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly to project sites across Orange County and surrounding Southern California areas.
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Construction Management, Occupational Health, or a related field.
- Experience working on K-12, higher education, public works, or DSA-regulated construction projects.
- OSHA 500, OSHA 510, or equivalent advanced safety certification.
- Professional safety certification such as CSP, ASP, CHST, or similar.
- First Aid and CPR instructor certification or experience delivering First Aid and CPR training.
- Experience partnering with Operations, Human Resources, Risk Management, and Project Management teams to align safety programs with broader business objectives.
- Experience tracking, analyzing, and reporting safety metrics, near misses, incidents, trends, and lessons learned.
- Familiarity with employee-owned, values-driven, or highly collaborative construction environments.
- Serve as a visible and proactive safety leader across construction projects throughout the Orange County region.
- Champion a people-first safety culture built on trust, accountability, continuous improvement, and shared responsibility.
- Partner closely with project teams, superintendents, field leaders, and site safety professionals to support safe project execution.
- Coach field leadership on safety conversations, jobsite observations, pre-task planning, and safe construction practices.
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies and procedures in alignment with Cal/OSHA, Federal OSHA, occupational health standards, and company safety expectations.
- Support the creation and execution of site-specific safety plans, job hazard analyses, pre-task plans, and other project-specific safety documentation.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and site walks to identify hazards, reinforce safe work practices, and promote safety awareness.
- Document audit findings and provide clear corrective action recommendations to project and field leadership.
- Lead incident and near-miss investigations using root cause analysis to identify contributing factors and prevent recurrence.
- Track, analyze, and report safety incidents, near misses, trends, and key safety metrics.
- Partner with leadership and project teams to implement lessons learned and strengthen safety performance across active projects.
- Maintain accurate written reports related to safety inspections, incident investigations, corrective actions, training, and compliance documentation.
- Provide or coordinate First Aid, CPR, emergency response, and safety-related training as needed.
- Stay informed of changes to OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and other relevant safety regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Collaborate with Operations, Project Management, Human Resources, and Risk Management to align safety initiatives with project and business objectives.
- Build strong working relationships with diverse field and office personnel through a professional, tactful, and solutions-oriented approach.
- Support additional safety initiatives, training programs, and regional responsibilities as assigned.
