Senior Estimator

The Senior Estimator position prepares detailed cost estimates for proposed new construction projects involving both competitive bid and negotiated type work. This position manages and performs a variety of estimating duties including quantity take‑offs, database input, coordination of bid documents for distribution to subcontractors, and research of product data and suppliers. Extensive knowledge of construction costs and the ability to support the overall activities of the Preconstruction team are imperative.

Leads the estimating team to prepare detailed quantity take‑offs for assigned segments of the project and apply unit costs. Using an approved list of contractors, invites subcontractors to submit pricing. Creates bid packages that are complete in scope and easy to follow. Reviews construction documents for both negotiated and bid projects; determines both the nature and scope of the work to be performed.

Collaborates and leads a wide variety of professionals including architects, owner representatives, subcontractors, suppliers and Webcor employees. Actively participates in all design meetings with owners and architects during development of the design. Involves subject matter experts within the organization to provide feedback directly to owners and architects during the design process to enhance the cost, schedule, quality, and constructability of a project.

Takes a leadership role with managing relationships with owners and architects. Develops conceptual estimates at a strategic level. Creates strong relationships with the local subcontractor market. Compiles cost data received for subcontractors for Webcor Estimators. Examines data as it is being received for both accuracy and sufficiency before completing the final estimate. When preliminary cost estimates exceed the owner’s expected budget, works with architects and owners in a value‑engineering role.

Assists in exploring a multitude of architectural alternatives; then pricing the alternatives that offer the greatest opportunity for cost savings. Solicits input via the Webcor team to identify cost‑savings alternatives as needed. Assists in maintaining and updating the master subcontractor list for all trades. Leads, develops, motivates and mentors junior team members as required. Peer‑reviews work for accuracy. Offers suggestions as needed before bid data is consolidated.

Advanced knowledge of construction costs and principles.

Advanced knowledge of the following software:
Win Est, OST, Revit, Excel, Building Connected.

Advanced knowledge of construction drawings, costs and principals. Advanced knowledge and understanding of costs to prepare conceptual estimates.

General knowledge of negotiated bids, hard bids, and GMP processes.

Ability to lead constructability reviews. Design‑Build project and estimating experience.

Advanced knowledge of various insurance, bonds, contingencies, and mark‑ups. Capable of utilizing risk management tools (Risk Register, etc.) during project pursuits and preconstruction services. Advanced knowledge of value engineering and design trend log utilization.

Proficient in strategic communication, skilled in delivering impactful messages and ideas to diverse audiences of varying sizes.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience. Typically, minimum ten years of diversified estimating and construction experience required.
