The Project Execution Branch of the Facilities Services Division is responsible for the construction of new schools and repair and modernization of existing schools as part of a multi-year bond funded capital improvement program. The branch is dedicated to ensuring that existing campuses are modernized and repaired in support of the education and safety of our students and staff utilizing cost efficient and sustainable materials.

A Senior Resident Construction Engineer administers District terms and conditions of the construction project relative to the scope, performance, cost and administrative requirements of the Contract for Construction for a new construction project. Typical duties may include:
- Manages, oversees and coordinates all facets of the construction phase of a school facility project including mobilization, construction, and closeout.
- Plans, organizes, directs and reports project management activities and progress to upper management.
- Coordinates with all pertinent public agencies during construction to comply with all off-site work.
- Manages both the project budget and schedule to meet the District’s qualitative standards.
- Performs day-to-day contract administration including assisting the Senior Project Managers in bid analysis, pre-construction meetings and related award coordinating activities.
The Senior Resident Construction Engineer is the primary administrator of the District's Contract for Construction on more complex and higher value new construction projects.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSPROMOTIONAL STATUS IS
REQUIRED:
You must be a current or retired employee of LAUSD with 130 paid days in regular status in the Classified Service or permanent status in the Certificated Service or have been laid-off within the past 39 months from a regular, permanent LAUSD position in which you passed probation. Laid-off employees' eligibility as a promotional candidate expires at the end of their 39 month period;
as such, laid-off employees applying for promotional career opportunities may not be eligible to complete the assessment process or may be removed from the employment eligibility list once their eligibility as a promotional candidate expires.
Education: Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or business administration. Possession of a valid Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential may be substituted for the required education.
Experience: Seven years experience in project/ construction management of commercial and/or public/educational facility construction with full responsibility
* for coordinating complex projects ranging in construction value from $20M and above is required.
