About Your RoleThe Junior M&O Project Manager – FETU supports the Facilities Environmental Technical Unit (FETU) by assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of environmental remediation and maintenance projects throughout District facilities. Working closely with District Project Management Units, Maintenance & Operations personnel, environmental consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders, this role helps ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulations.
The successful candidate will coordinate project activities from planning through closeout, monitor project progress, assist with contract administration, review technical documentation, and support environmental compliance efforts involving asbestos abatement, lead remediation, and other environmental initiatives.
Education Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
- Candidates without a bachelor's degree may substitute qualifying professional experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Three (3) or more years of full-time paid professional experience in project or construction management.
- Experience supporting projects through all phases, including pre-construction planning, construction monitoring, and project closeout.
- Experience with educational facility construction projects or public agency projects is preferred.
- Knowledge of construction safety protocols, Cal/OSHA requirements, and environmental compliance procedures is a plus.
- Assist with planning, coordinating, processing, and expediting projects related to the construction, modernization, installation, repair, and renovation of schools, administrative buildings, and other District facilities.
- Coordinate activities among District Project Management Units, Maintenance & Operations personnel, environmental consultants, and abatement contractors.
- Review Requests for Assistance (RFAs) with FETU technical staff to determine project scope and evaluate project documentation.
- Perform funding line reviews and coordinate with Facilities Accounting to prepare project funding request packages.
- Plan project activities, monitor schedules, track labor, and report project progress.
- Request and review cost proposals from environmental consultants to verify scope, pricing, and project feasibility.
- Assist technical staff with estimating costs for asbestos abatement and lead remediation projects.
- Initiate and administer asbestos abatement, lead remediation, task order, Job Order Contract (JOC), and related environmental contracts.
- Coordinate and schedule environmental abatement activities to support demolition, renovation, and modernization projects while minimizing impacts to school operations.
- Review contractor submittals, daily reports, certified payroll documentation, and invoices for compliance and approval.
- Evaluate proposed changes in project scope and assist with the review of change orders and associated cost impacts.
- Support project closeout activities, documentation, and environmental certification requirements.
- Prepare bid processing requests and assist with coordinating the contract award process.
- Maintain project tracking systems and provide regular status updates on assigned projects.
- Attend Job Start meetings to review asbestos, lead, safety, and environmental requirements with contractors and project stakeholders while ensuring meeting documentation is completed.

- $121,000–$131,000 annually
