We are currently looking for a Project Cost/Controls Engineer who is ready to engage in a large alternative delivery (CMGC) project in Los Angeles County. This project is a multi-year project that will widen the 105 freeway from the 405 to the 605. This widening will increase HOV capacity, reduce congestion along the corridor and introduce tolling to the 105. Phase one of the project is starting at $400 Million, and the remaining phases will push the project towards $1 Billion.
This is a great opportunity to join the team prior to the project breaking ground and contribute to the success of this critical project to improve mobility ahead of the 2028 Olympics.
We are looking for a person that is capable of developing a deep understanding of the project documents, including the contract with the owner, subcontracts, cost reports and specifications. This person should feel comfortable navigating and working within accounting and project documentation software, be detail‑orientated with experience in the construction industry. The position is directly accountable for the financial performance and reporting, document control and project controls on site.
This position will integrate with the project controls team that focuses quality management and reports, project cost and quantity reports, schedule development, procurement, equipment efficiencies, document control, and as‑builts preparation & coordination. Your role on the structures team will depend on your desires as well as strengths and previous experience. You will need to develop and maintain strong relationships with the subcontractors, suppliers as well as LA Metro, Caltrans and the Construction Managers staff.
Key Responsibilities:- Work on site to help solve problems that occur during construction
- Work within Procore to manage documents
- Maintain thorough understanding of the contract with LA Metro
- Monitor project costs and job cost report
- Analyze and forecast monthly total cost projection reports
- Monitor project labor
- Assist in managing the quality control program
- Develop, schedule and lead project teams on document control such as submittals, RFIs and change orders
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management or Engineering preferred
- 2+ years of experience in highly complex and related highway or structures construction projects in California
- Experience dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors and self‑perform work
- Excellent organizational, team management, problem solving, motivational skills
