We are hiring a dedicated Construction Inspector to support multiple projects within the LAX Airport Tenant Improvement program, primarily focusing on building disciplines. This on‑site position is based in Los Angeles, CA.
Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive daily inspections across building and terminal construction projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and project specifications.
- Review and interpret construction documents including blueprints, shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
- Prepare detailed daily inspection reports documenting the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and HOW of all observed construction activities.
- Verify contractor compliance with local jurisdiction requirements, building codes, and LAWA‑specific proprietary standards.
- Support special inspections and testing activities, coordinating with engineers, contractors, and third‑party agencies as needed.
- Track and document time‑and‑material work, field changes, and job quantities.
- Assist in validating contractor progress payment requests based on an approved schedule of values.
- Perform inspections related to building construction, including:
- Clearing, grubbing, and demolition of building structures.
- Excavations, trenching, and shoring.
- Grade and elevation survey.
- Structural backfill and compaction for underground utilities.
- Structural and non‑structural concrete work.
- Formwork, footings, and micro piles.
- Sewer and storm drain inspection.
- Metal stud framing, drywall installation, and interior finishes.
- Door and hardware components.
- T‑bar ceilings, hard lids, and other fire‑rated components.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (minimum).
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, or engineering preferred.
- Five (5) or more years of relevant experience performing inspections.
- Knowledge of Project Management Information Software used for inspection/document control (e.g., Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, PM Web, Adobe Pro, Bluebeam).
- Training in the use of fall protection equipment and harness with lanyard.
- Confined space awareness certification.
- Cal OSHA 30‑hour training and certificate.
- Good knowledge of LA City Building codes and ADA requirements.
- Experience inspecting demolition and full‑cycle building construction.
- Strong ability to identify and address deficiencies to meet required standards.
- Excellent communication and time‑management skills.
- ICC certifications and Deputy Inspector Licenses (preferred but not required).
- Alpha and other relevant licensing (if applicable).
