Francison Consulting, Inc., is seeking a Construction Inspector to support Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) construction inspection and work as a member of the LAWA Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division across multiple projects within LAWA's Tenant Improvement Program, primarily focusing on building disciplines.

  • Conduct comprehensive daily inspections across building and terminal construction projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and project specifications, review and interpret construction documents including blueprints and shop drawings, submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), and change orders.
  • Demonstrates strong proficiency in preparing comprehensive daily inspection reports that clearly document the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and HOW of all observed construction activities, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and accountability in tracking progress and identifying issues, deficiencies, or safety concerns in a timely manner.
  • Verify contractor compliance with local jurisdiction's requirements, building codes and LAWA specific proprietary standards.
  • Support special inspections and testing activities, coordinating with engineers, contractors, and third party agencies as needed.
  • May be tasked to track and document time and material work, field changes, and job quantities.
  • May be tasked to assist in validating contractor progress payment requests based on an approved schedule of values.

Perform inspections related to building construction including, but not limited to:

  • Clearing, grubbing, and demolition of building structures.
  • Excavations, trenching, and shoring.
  • Grade and elevation survey.
  • Structural backfill and compaction for underground utilities.
  • Structural and nonstructural concrete work.
  • Formwork, footings, and micropiles.
  • Sewer and storm drain inspection.
  • Metal stud framing, drywall installation, and interior finishes.
  • Door and hardware with its components.
  • T bar ceilings, hard lids, and other fire rated components.
Professional Experience Level/Minimum Qualifications
  • Training in the use of fall protection equipment and harness with lanyard.
  • Confined Space Awareness Certification.
  • California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal OSHA) 30 Hour training and certificate.
  • National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E Certification required for Electrical Inspectors.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
  • International Code Council (ICC) certifications and Deputy Inspector Licenses are preferred but not required.
  • Inspectors with good knowledge and ability to inspect large scale construction of airport and public building facilities, which may include steel and concrete structures, architectural finishes and components, and other construction related to the airport terminal operations to ensure conformance with safety regulations, plans, specifications, and other applicable documents.
  • Possess good knowledge of Los Angeles City Building Codes and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. Experience in, but not limited to, inspecting demolition and the construction of buildings from start to finish.
  • Expertise in identifying and addressing deficiencies, ensuring that all aspects of construction meet the required standards.
  • A strong understanding of diverse requirements.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
Education/Training
  • High school diploma (or equivalent).
  • Five (5) years or more of experience performing inspection.
Hardware/Software Knowledge
  • Knowledge of Project Management Information Software (PMIS) used for inspection and document control, including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PMWeb, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Bluebeam, and related software.
  • Computer proficiency to review and utilize electronic equipment for contract documents efficiently, including change orders, submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), and other inspection documents, with minimal supervision.
  • The ability to write clear and concise documents depicting daily progress of the work. May be assigned to a program where the inspector prepares monthly progress payment requests, tracks various changes, verifies time and material work, measures, and documents job quantities.
Work Schedule

Typical schedules include:

Day Shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM or 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday through Friday

Night Shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM, Sunday, if applicable to the project
