Role Description
Arcadis seeks a Construction Inspector to join our team in Los Angeles to perform a wide variety of professional engineering work in either an office or field setting. This work is performed on highway construction projects involving bridges, buildings, walls, barriers, drainage structures, sign structures, and appurtenances.
Accountabilities- Inspect construction work at all stages through project completion to verify conformance with approved plans, specifications, contract documents, and all applicable local, state, and federal codes and regulations.
- Review shop drawings for compliance and identify deviations from contract requirements.
- Confirm construction quality and workmanship across building, civil, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and structural systems.
- Monitor construction sites to ensure compliance with safety, security, and traffic control requirements in accordance with LACMTA policies and procedures. Perform site safety and security reviews covering equipment, personnel, work methods, and operations, and assist in promoting a safe work environment.
- Conduct quality surveillance and field inspections, including special and technical inspections such as structural steel, welding, reinforced concrete, masonry, electrical, mechanical, landscaping, soil testing, concrete and asphalt mixes, and reinforcing steel.
- Coordinate laboratory testing activities and compare contractor test results with independent verification results to ensure specification compliance.
- Prepare and maintain daily inspection reports (DIRs), activity logs, photographs, and related documentation in approved formats.
- Issue Non‑Conformance Reports when work does not meet approved standards and verify corrective actions.
- Prepare reports documenting labor, materials, and equipment on site, and support the review and preparation of interim progress reports for contractor payments.
- Coordinate inspection surveys, cost estimates, and maintenance records, ensuring timely and accurate submittals.
- Review, approve, or reject construction materials based on compliance with specifications.
- May allocate inspection resources and provide oversight of inspectors performing related duties.
- Approximately five (5) years of field experience on heavy construction projects, transportation, or transit construction projects for the appropriate disciplines, including utilities, geotechnical, civil roadway, structural, electrical, duct bank, and communications.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or another related field is desirable.
- Valid California Class C driver's license.
- Able to obtain Cal‑OSHA/OSHA 30‑hour training certification prior to work.

$95,000 - $167,000.
