Assistant Safety Manager
The Assistant Safety Manager is responsible for the regular safety inspection of assigned HITT projects and supports the Project Teams in managing safety conditions and performance.
Responsibilities- Conduct on‑site safety inspections using the web‑based H&S application system with some guidance.
- Evaluate project compliance with federal, state, local, corporate and client safety regulations and procedures.
- Evaluate safety performance of subcontractors working on HITT projects.
- Review project safety inspections with Site Operations and distribute findings to key project team members and subcontractors.
- Track open safety issues to closure.
- Research and evaluate OSHA regulations to address project needs, at the direction of the H&S manager.
- Participate in accident/incident investigations with assistance or direction from other HITT H&S Department members.
- Deliver safety toolbox meetings.
- Assist with on‑site health‑safety training.
- Review Job Hazard Analysis with assistance or direction.
- Assist in development of site‑specific safety plans.
- Participate in project safety and subcontractor meetings as needed.
- Assist in development and delivery of project H&S orientations.
- Elevate H&S concerns.
- Assist with safety signage selection for projects.
- Assist with managing and reviewing project documentation requirements.
- Research and collaborate to obtain information to resolve H&S‑related issues.
- Identify or select specialized H&S/protective equipment for projects with some assistance.
- Assist with execution of project‑wide safety stand‑downs.
- Create and maintain positive working relationships with HITT project teams and subcontractors.
- 2–5 years of safety experience.
- A four‑year degree from an accredited university with a concentration in construction, engineering, or business is strongly preferred; in lieu of a degree, additional work experience is acceptable.
- Current First Aid AED/CPR certification is a plus.
- 2–5+ years’ experience with a general contractor.
- OSHA 30 certificate required.
- A CSP, ASP, CHST or other safety‑related designation preferred.
- Ability to write professional reports, business correspondence, and technical procedures.
- Proficient documentation, record‑keeping and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook as well as the ability and willingness to learn new software applications.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to multi‑task and work well in a team.
In accordance with California’s Labor Code Section 432.3, the base salary range for this position is $84,700.00 – $. Compensation may vary in other cities and states.
