Summary
A growing heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee public works and infrastructure projects throughout Southern California. This role is responsible for managing projects from preconstruction through closeout while partnering closely with field operations, clients, subcontractors, and project teams to deliver safe, high-quality work on schedule and within budget.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys managing complex civil projects while working with an established contractor that continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities- Manage heavy civil and public works projects from award through closeout
- Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and cost reports
- Lead subcontractor buyout, procurement, and contract administration
- Prepare and negotiate change orders while managing project financial performance
- Oversee RFIs, submittals, permits, and project documentation
- Coordinate with owners, engineers, inspectors, utilities, and public agencies
- Partner with field teams to maintain schedule, quality, and safety objectives
- Lead project meetings and provide regular updates to leadership and clients
- Track project risks and proactively resolve issues impacting cost or schedule
- Support project closeout, final documentation, and owner turnover
- 5+ years of Project Management experience in heavy civil construction
- Experience managing public works or infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of project budgets, forecasting, scheduling, and cost control
- Experience with change orders, subcontract management, and contract administration
- Ability to coordinate with public agencies, owners, engineers, and inspectors
- Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar software preferred
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
