About the Opportunity:

Our client is a construction management firm supporting a large public-sector infrastructure program in Los Angeles. They are seeking a Project Manager I to oversee facility improvement, renovation, deferred maintenance, and sustainability infrastructure projects supporting a portfolio of public facilities.

This role is responsible for managing projects through planning, design, permitting, procurement, construction, and closeout while coordinating with consultants, contractors, public agencies, and client stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with program objectives.

The position works closely with project teams, facility representatives, architects, engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies to identify project risks, resolve issues, and successfully deliver multiple concurrent capital improvement projects.

This role supports public facility improvement and sustainability infrastructure projects, including solar and electric vehicle charging initiatives, within a large public-sector program environment.

This is a full-time, on-site position based near Los Angeles. The assignment is anticipated to run for approximately 18 months.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage multiple concurrent facility improvement and infrastructure projects from planning through construction and closeout.
• Coordinate planning, design, permitting, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
• Develop and manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and project documentation.
• Coordinate architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
• Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitor project progress and ensure compliance with scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
• Review and coordinate construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
• Lead project meetings and provide regular project status updates to stakeholders.
• Negotiate and prepare change orders and support contract administration activities.
• Monitor construction activities and coordinate project execution with multiple stakeholders.
• Resolve project issues and respond proactively to changing project requirements.
• Support sustainability and infrastructure improvement initiatives, including renewable energy and EV charging projects.

Mandatory Requirements:

(Candidates must meet all requirements)

• Minimum 5 years of project management experience supporting construction or infrastructure projects, including concurrent field construction experience.
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Licensed Professional or Certified Construction Manager (CCM).
• Experience managing projects through planning, design, permitting, construction, and closeout.
• Experience developing and managing project scope, budgets, schedules, and project documentation.
• Experience reviewing construction documents and coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.
• Experience facilitating project meetings and coordinating with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders.
• Experience negotiating and administering change orders.
• Knowledge of CEQA and NEPA environmental review processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to independently manage all aspects of assigned projects.
• Ability to work full-time on-site in Los Angeles.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting municipal infrastructure or public works projects.
• Experience supporting public library, civic, or government facility improvement projects.
• Experience supporting Design-Bid-Build project delivery.
• Experience managing deferred maintenance or refurbishment projects.
• Knowledge of California Public Contract Code and public procurement practices.
• Experience supporting sustainability infrastructure projects, including solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and electric vehicle charging station (EVCS) projects.
• Professional certifications beyond CCM, such as PMP, PE, LEED, or similar credentials.
