Morgner is seeking a Construction Inspector to join the Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division across multiple Capital Improvement Program projects at Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA). Candidates must hold a current LADBS Grading Deputy License or Deputy Post-Tensioning (Pre-Stressed) License, along with 5–10+ years of heavy civil, roadway, or Cal-Trans bridge/structure inspection experience.
Note:
May be required to work various shifts including overtime, swing, nights, weekend shifts, and holidays as needed
- Minimum 5 years of experience performing inspection of Cal-Trans bridge, roadway, and structure projects, or a minimum of 10 years experience as a Superintendent on Cal-Trans bridge, roadway, and structures projects.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in public works field inspection, with a focus on heavy civil and roadway construction, or a minimum of 10 years experience as a Superintendent on Cal-Trans bridge, roadway, and structures projects.
- Proven expertise in the installation and inspection of sewer and storm drain systems, utility infrastructure, and traffic control measures.
- Strong working knowledge of City of Los Angeles, County of Los Angeles and Cal-Trans Standards.
- Ability to work effectively and communicate in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Perform inspection of major reinforced concrete structures including pile foundations, roadways, and bridges across multiple jurisdictions.
- Conduct inspections for the installation of sanitary sewer systems and storm drains, including related structures, in accordance with City and County of Los Angeles Standards.
- Perform inspections for the installation of street lighting and traffic signal systems, following the specifications set by the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Street Lighting and the Los Angeles Department of Transportation.
- Apply extensive knowledge of City of Los Angeles Standard Plans/Specifications and the Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction (Greenbook).
- Apply extensive knowledge of Cal-Trans construction Standard Plans and Specifications.
- Ensure compliance with multi-phased, site-specific traffic control plans, with a strong emphasis on pedestrian safety and routing.
- Apply knowledge of and enforce Cal-OSHA, Contractor’s and LAWA safety requirements.
- Prepare comprehensive daily inspection reports that clearly and concisely documents observed construction activities and identifies issues, deficiencies, and safety concerns in a timely manner.
- Assist in reviewing and approving Contractor’s monthly progress payment request based on work completed and approved schedule of values.
- Collaborate professionally within a large team of Inspectors.
- Computer Proficiency - Utilize electronic equipment to review project plans and contract documents including RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
- High school diploma (or equivalent).
- Current City of Los Angeles Deputy Inspector Licenses;
Grading, or Post Tensioning (Pre-Stressed) REQUIRED - Current Cal-Trans test method certifications in 100, 200, 300, and 500 series desired.
- 30-hour Cal-OSHA training prior to assignment. The 30-hour training will have been received within the last 4 years. (We can provide this training)
