Site Safety and Health Officer

Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Administer the company's Health & Safety Program locally; site Accident Prevention Plans;
  Activity Hazard Analyses;
  Position Hazard Analyses; and other site- specific plans, procedures, and policies
• Manage Health & Safety Training, ensuring employees understand hazards associated with site conditions and activities and methods to mitigate those hazards
• Audit and inspect site conditions and activities; initiate corrective and preventive actions and verify the effectiveness of actions taken
• May be responsible for assisting on the development of agendas for both pre and post-job conferences
• Provide guidance of safety improvements
• Lead incident investigations with affected supervisor, assuring actionable causes of incidents are acted on by managers and supervisors and verifying the effectiveness of actions taken
• Perform construction and project management administration functions, handling a variety of actions and problems relating to assigned projects. May prepare and analyze contractual requirement submittals
• Report activities, findings, incidents and investigations, and site OSHA statistic to the Corporate Health & Safety Officer (CHSO) and the site Project Manager
• Keep abreast of developments in health and safety practices and legislation; act upon changes accordingly
• Liaise with client and other team organizations on health and safety issues
