The Following Films is an ambitious indie production company building toward franchise-scale IP. Our first feature, The Following (shooting December 2025), and our second, Only Love (a raw, intimate story exploring homelessness), are laying the foundation for a studio that balances intimate storytelling with long-term franchise ambitions.
We’re looking for a founding Social Media & Community Lead to craft the voice, build the audiences, and grow the online presence for all our projects — films, comics, and future studio IP. This is a rare opportunity to shape the brand and community foundation for a company with ambitious franchise plans.
-The Role-
This is a foundational hire, starting full-time in January 2026. We’re also open to early involvement in Fall 2025 for candidates interested in seeding accounts, shaping strategy, and creating pre-launch buzz. You will collaborate closely with the founder, Indie Operations & Strategy Lead, and Studio Scale Business & IP Executive to amplify our work across all brands.
Strategy & Planning:
Develop and execute social media and community growth strategies across Tik Tok, Instagram, You Tube, Twitter/X, Discord, and other platforms.
Content Creation & Optimization:
Design campaigns, posts, and multimedia content that align with the company’s vision, films, and comics.
Audience Growth & Engagement:
Build authentic communities around films, comics, and company brands; drive pre-release engagement and fan loyalty.
Brand Voice Development:
Shape the tone, messaging, and aesthetic across all platforms.
Cross-Promotion:
Collaborate with marketing, festival, and production teams to amplify campaigns and integrate community engagement into film and comic releases.
Analytics & Iteration:
Track growth, engagement, and campaign effectiveness; iterate to optimize results.
Grassroots & Buzz Campaigns:
Identify opportunities for viral, grassroots, or influencer-driven campaigns to elevate project visibility.
-What We’re Looking For-
Proven Social Media
Experience:
3+ years running campaigns for films, comics, or entertainment projects (indie or brand-focused).
Community Building
Skills:
Experience cultivating online audiences, managing Discord/Tik Tok/Instagram communities, or similar platforms.
Creative & Visual Instincts:
Ability to design content with a cinematic or narrative feel that resonates with audiences.
Analytical & Data-Driven:
Comfortable using metrics and analytics to guide strategy and optimize campaigns.
Entrepreneurial Mindset:
Thrives in early-stage, resource-constrained environments; can take ownership of results.
Collaboration & Communication:
Strong interpersonal skills; able to work closely with founder and early team across projects.
Optional Bonus:
Experience with crowdfunding campaigns, comic or film launches, or early grassroots marketing strategies.
-Compensation & Equity-
Equity: 1–3% in The Following Films, vesting over 4 years (based on experience and fit)
Start Options:
Official full-time start January 2026; early Fall 2025 consulting/part-time contributions possible
Cash:
At this early stage, cash compensation is limited. Full competitive salary will be offered once Only Love enters distribution and company funding grows.
Why Join Us? This is an opportunity to:
Be a founding voice shaping social media and community for multiple brands from day one. Build audiences for indie films, creator-owned comics, and long-term franchise IP. Collaborate directly with the founder and early hires to integrate marketing, production, and business strategy. Grow your role as the company expands — from social lead to key executive in brand and audience strategy.
