About the Role

As a Creative Director, you’ll oversee the day-to-day creative functions within a fast-growing and fast-paced team working on a social-first communications brand. You’ll be responsible for delivering primarily social media creative that speaks the language of trends and culture fluently, while elevating the conceptual and executional quality of the brand.

Responsibilities
  • Creative Steward:
First and foremost, you will set the tone and the standard of quality for the brands you work on. This includes working with the internal brand and strategy team to help set/maintain the tone and vision for the brand. This also includes reviewing all the creative work that will ultimately make its way to the client, providing quality control over your team’s output.

You will ensure that creative projects are delivered on their agreed upon timeline and on budget ensuring commercial success. You will lead concept development, with the expectation that you will occasionally need to adopt the mindset of a maker, too. You will digest feedback from internal and external stakeholders, ensuring it is actionable for your teams. You will oversee nimble projects with art and copy teams, as well as internal filmmakers/content creators and external production partners, ensuring footage captured is of a quality commensurate with the expectation of the agency and the client.

Client relationship management: while not everyone’s cup of tea, it’s the relationship that builds the trust. As a CD, you’re expected to be comfortable interacting with clients, and owning and growing the relationship. Specifically: your POV is critical to making the work better and protecting the integrity of ideas. You will be expected to present, sell, and speak to the core of an idea, as well as provide support for the work.

You will be required to help storytell ideas for clients, internal teams and your own creative teams. Your ability to “clean up the idea” is essential to its impact. Talent development, recruitment and retention:
Participating in and leading hiring decisions on team creative candidates, taking into consideration the department/agency’s needs and growth potential. Overseeing, mentoring, and growing your team’s talent. Offering a point of view on the team’s composition and structure, including promotions, job openings and overall growth opportunities. Fostering an environment of trust, support, and advocacy for your team while maintaining a calm demeanor.

Modeling the ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced environment, and pivot as necessary without losing sight of quality.
About You The essentials:
  • Must have at least 2 years experience in an Associate Creative Director or equivalent role including concept development and client contact. Conceptual art direction background is preferred, with a well-developed creative point of view and the ability to decisively identify strong ideas and executions.
  • Must be social-media obsessed. You have deep love and knowledge of trends, platforms, best practices, and the best work happening right now. You should have your finger on the pulse of creative culture, and have a deep bench of reference from all different sources that could help inspire creative avenues.
  • Must have production experience with and an understanding of the production process.
  • Must have run teams of 4 or more.
  • Must be willing to travel for shoots and productions, up to 20% of the time (most shoots are currently in the LA area).
  • Los Angeles-based or within a commutable distance is strongly preferred.
Not a Must but a Plus:
  • Bilingual English & Spanish is a major plus. The majority of the work on the account is English mass-market, with about 10-20% US-Spanish transcreation. The ability to converse, ideate, write, and provide creative feedback with cultural insight and nuance for Spanish-speaking US audiences is a major plus.
  • Experience working in a nimble content creation environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience creating and overseeing both paid and organic social creative is strongly preferred.
