EPIC’s productions bring together neurodiverse artists and experienced theater professionals in a collaborative, supportive, and rigorous artistic process. We are committed to fostering an inclusive creative team.
We are currently hiring key production staff for our upcoming production of Peter and the Starcatcher, a whimsical, inventive prequel to the Peter Pan story that relies heavily on strong design collaboration and ensemble storytelling.
Scenic Designer – $2,500 stipendThe Scenic Designer will create an imaginative and flexible physical environment that supports the play’s inventive storytelling style. This production relies on theatrical creativity, transformation, and visual storytelling rather than literal realism.
Responsibilities include:
- Designing the overall scenic concept in collaboration with the Director and production team
- Providing renderings, ground plans, and build drawings as needed
- Working within a $2500 materials budget constraints to create an achievable and impactful design
- Collaborating with other designers to ensure visual cohesion across lighting, costumes, and sound
- Communicating with the production team throughout the build and rehearsal process
The Lighting Designer will help create the magical world of the play through dynamic, expressive lighting that supports storytelling, mood, and transitions.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing the lighting concept in collaboration with the Director and Scenic Designer
- Creating lighting plots, cue lists, and programming cues
- Attending production meetings and technical rehearsals
- Supporting visibility, clarity, and emotional tone throughout the production
- Working with venue staff and production team on implementation
The Sound Designer will work with our Music Director on creating the auditory world of the play, including environmental sound cues, transitions, and reinforcement as needed.
Responsibilities include:
- Designing and sourcing sound effects and transitions
- Supporting storytelling through sound texture and atmosphere
- Preparing cue lists and playback organization
- Collaborating with the Director and Stage Manager during rehearsal and tech
- Ensuring clear and consistent sound delivery during performances
The Costume Designer will create costumes that support character development, storytelling, and the imaginative theatrical style of the production. Please note, a wardrobe assistant will also be provided.
Responsibilities include:
- Designing costumes for the full cast in collaboration with the Director
- Creating visual references for character looks
- Sourcing, pulling, or overseeing construction of costumes within a materials budget of $2,000
- Attending fittings and technical rehearsals
The Stage Manager will serve as a central organizational and communication hub throughout rehearsals and performances.
Responsibilities include:
- Attending rehearsals in person once per week on Tuesdays (alternating with the Assistant Stage Manager)
- Running rehearsals, tracking blocking, and maintaining rehearsal reports
- Supporting communication between cast, creative team, and production staff
- Calling cues and running technical and dress rehearsals
- Maintaining organizational materials including scripts, schedules, and reports
The ideal candidate is organized, collaborative, and comfortable working in an inclusive environment with neurodiverse performers.
All positions are stipend-based contract roles. Timeline, production dates, and additional details will be provided upon inquiry.

- Tuesdays and Thursdays evenings from 5:30-9:30pm, with select Saturday rehearsals 10:30am-1:30pm

Performance Dates:
May 14 – May 17
Designers and Stage Management staff will be expected to attend virtual production meetings (as scheduled), technical rehearsals, and performances as required for their role.
