Position:
Assistant Program Director
Position Summary:
Lotus is seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Radio Program Director to lead our programming team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong creative vision, excellent leadership skills, and a deep understanding of radio programming and audience engagement.
The Assistant Program Director reports to the Program Director and assists in managing the station's on-air content, sound, and brand identity to maximize ratings and audience engagement. Responsible for scheduling, mentoring on-air talent, ensuring FCC compliance, and developing programming strategies. This role blends creative vision with business management to ensure high-quality, competitive broadcasting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Programming & Content Strategy:
Assist in developing the station's daily schedule, playlist, and overall sound. Develop and implement strategies to boost station ratings and enhance audience engagement. Analyzes ratings data and audience research to inform programming decisions.
Talent Management:
Trains and coaches on-air personalities, DJs, and producers. Conduct regular air-checks to provide feedback.
Compliance & Operations:
Ensures all broadcasts comply with FCC, state and federal regulations. Manages the technical aspect of the audio automation system.
Marketing & Promotions:
Collaborates with marketing teams to promote the station, increase listenership, and drive revenue.
Production & Audio:
Oversees the production of on-air promos, jingles, voicing and producing commercials, and writing and producing imaging. Ensures on-air traffic reports for both radio and TV (Sinclair) are scheduled.
Industry Research:
Staying updated with the latest music trends and industry developments to keep the station competitive.
Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
High School Diploma is required; an Associates or Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience providing administrative support, management, or experience within the broadcasting industry is preferred.
Strong MS Office skills.
Exceptional organizational skills.
Ability to work under deadlines and in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to prioritize daily routines and urgent tasks.
Working knowledge of Marketron and vCreative preferred
Proficiency in digital audio editing, studio equipment, and computer-automated radio systems.
