About the Role

Pacific Magnetic is a growing aerospace non‑destructive testing (NDT) and metal finishing provider in North Hollywood, in operation for over 30 years. We’re hiring a Customer Service & Data Entry Coordinator to support our office team across two connected functions: data entry/quoting and customer service/order coordination.

For roughly the first 6 months, you’ll split time between both roles - this gives you a real look at each side of the business and gives us a real look at where you’re strongest. After that period, you’ll move into full‑time placement in whichever of the two roles is the better fit for you and for the business.

What the Job Actually Involves

We’d rather you know exactly what you’re signing up for than have you find out on day one:

  • Office-based, on‑site role - this is primarily desk and computer work, but customer service is a standing desk in a building with no AC. Expect hot working conditions during the summer, cooler mornings in the winter, and hours standing up. Job requires constant coordination with team members and movement around outdoor facility.
  • You’ll be cross‑trained on two distinct skill sets at once for the first several months: precise data entry / quoting work, and customer‑facing order coordination (mainly over email). Expect some day‑to‑day variety and task switching rather than one repetitive routine.
  • Deadline‑driven at times - purchase orders, quotes, and shipments run on customer timelines, so accuracy and follow‑through matter more than speed alone.
  • Direct contact with customers by phone and email once trained, representing the company professionally.
  • After ~6 months, placement into one role full‑time is based on performance and business need - we’ll be upfront with you about how that decision gets made as the time approaches.
Responsibilities

During the initial cross‑training period, responsibilities will include a mix of:

  • Entering data accurately into the computer system - reading specifications and preparing work instructions for plant operators
  • Scanning documents, processing invoices, and entering customer quotes
  • Reviewing incoming customer purchase orders for completeness before they’re routed to the Planning department
  • Coordinating and prioritizing incoming job orders to help meet delivery deadlines
  • Supporting shipping/receiving and order processing
  • Communicating with customers when purchase order or delivery issues come up
  • General clerical support and other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
  • No prior aerospace experience required - we will train on our systems and processes. What matters more:
  • Strong attention to detail - this role directly affects order accuracy and customer satisfaction
  • Comfortable switching between focused solo work (data entry) and phone/email communication with customers
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); comfortable learning new systems
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive, can‑do attitude and the ability to learn quickly
  • Reliable and consistent attendance
Growth Path

This role is designed as a genuine on‑ramp, not a dead‑end entry job. After the initial cross‑training period, strong performers move into a full‑time Data Entry/Planning role or a full‑time Customer Service Coordinator/Expeditor role, with room to grow further into planning or procurement‑adjacent positions as you build knowledge of our company and systems grows.

Requirements
  • Due to ITAR requirements, all applicants must be able to provide legal proof of U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
  • Reliable transportation to the North Hollywood site.
Benefits
  • Medical, dental, and paid time off for eligible employees
  • Defined growth path into a permanent, specialized office role after ~6 months
  • Stable, established company - 30+ years in operation and on strong growth trajectory
