Position Overview
GoTo Telemed seeks experienced licensed Physicians (MDs & DOs) to join our independent telehealth network. This 1099 independent contractor role allows you to practice medicine across multiple states with full schedule autonomy, supported by comprehensive training, HIPAA‑compliant digital platforms, EHR/EDI systems, and optional malpractice insurance.
Base Pay Range$95,000.00/yr – $/yr (fee‑for‑service, per‑consultation)
Core Responsibilities- Conduct virtual consultations via a secure HIPAA‑compliant video platform.
- Assess patient complaints, medical history, allergies, meds, and symptoms.
- Make clinical decisions and differential diagnoses using telehealth techniques.
- Provide evidence‑based treatment recommendations, including prescriptions.
- Document encounters accurately and timely in the integrated EHR.
- Transmit prescriptions electronically through certified pharmacy networks.
- Communicate findings and plans clearly, ensuring informed consent.
- Establish diagnostic and follow‑up plans aligned with standard of care.
- Maintain professional documentation standards across all patient interactions.
- Maintain active, unrestricted medical license(s) in all states where care is delivered.
- Comply with the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) where applicable.
- Maintain DEA registration in all states where controlled substances are prescribed.
- Verify state‑specific telehealth regulations before each consultation.
- Stay updated on state scope of practice, billing regulations, and telehealth rules.
- Adhere to federal HIPAA Privacy, Security, and Breach Notification requirements.
- Comply with the Ryan Haight Act for telehealth prescribing.
- Proficient use of GoTo Telemed video conferencing and scheduling system.
- Access and document patient information in the integrated EHR.
- Understand EDI standards for claims submission and eligibility verification.
- Use secure messaging, appointment reminders, and patient communication features.
- Troubleshoot basic technical issues; escalations to support team.
- Protect patient privacy within the digital environment.
- Complete mandatory HIPAA and platform‑specific security training.
- Collaborate with RN/LPN staff for screening, triage, and care coordination, when applicable.
- Communicate clinical decisions clearly to nursing team.
- Ensure supervision meets state regulatory requirements.
- Participate in case conferences and clinical consultations as needed.
- Document all supervised encounters professionally.
- Complete onboarding and platform training program.
- Participate in ongoing competency assessments and quality improvement initiatives.
- Respond to peer review and credentialing inquiries within required time frames.
- Maintain current certifications, licenses, and board‑certification status.
- Engage in CME as required by state boards and standards.
- Adhere to evidence‑based telehealth guidelines and best practices.
- Participate in quality audits, chart reviews, and compliance monitoring.
- Report clinical or technical issues that may impact patient safety immediately.
- Submit accurate timesheets, encounter documentation, and billing records.
- Maintain organized patient consultation records for compliance.
- Communicate availability and scheduling changes proactively.
- Respond promptly to administrative inquiries from GoTo Telemed operations.
- Comply with all contract and compensation terms, including payment processing.
- Maintain proper business records and invoicing documentation as a 1099 contractor.
- Fee‑for‑service per‑consultation, rate varies by complexity, specialty, state, and experience.
- Bi‑weekly direct deposit or ACH transfer.
- GoTo Telemed handles claims submission and payer management; contractor receives guaranteed compensation irrespective of payer denials where applicable.
- No traditional benefits; contractor must secure own insurance and retirement plan.
- Responsible for federal income taxes, self‑employment taxes, and quarterly estimated payments.
