Rapid Prototyping Technician

We’re looking for a Rapid Prototyping Technician to join the Spectacles Engineering Services team at Snap Inc!

Work in a fast-paced fabrication lab setting with multiple competing priorities & deadlines.

Work closely with industrial design and engineering teams to help them realize and prototype their design concepts

Apply a diverse range of fabrication techniques to fabricate functional prototypes, mechanical & electrical assemblies, jigs & fixtures

Operate a wide range of hand and power tools for fabrication including cutting, grinding, sanding, and drilling implements.

Partner with and support staff machinists and model makers, including setup and post-processing (surface finishing, coating, and assembly) of parts for end customers

Manage inventory and purchasing of tools, supplies, spare parts, etc necessary for shop operations

Directly perform and oversee contracted maintenance and calibration of a wide range of machines and laboratory infrastructure across Specs facilities.

Model and enforce workplace security and environmental health & safety protocols including managing highly confidential project materials, use of PPE, and proper management of waste streams

Demonstrated mastery of at least one 3D printing technologies such as FDM, SLS, and Resin printers, as well as post-processing of parts, as well as operating, trouble-shooting & maintaining the equipment.

Demonstrated fabrication experience with additional common fabrication techniques including such as laser cutting, wood/metal work, sewing/textiles, and painting.

Ability to operate and learn digital tools in an advanced shop environment including machine/process-specific software, digital ticketing systems, office applications (office and email applications) on Mac/Windows.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to exchange complicated information quickly & efficiently.

Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to high quality craftsmanship.

4+ Years of experience operating in a fabrication, machining, or laboratory environment

AS or BS degree in engineering, machining, fabrication, drafting, or related field.

4+ Years of experience in a consumer electronics or R&D prototyping environment.

Experience operating 3D printing and laser cutting equipment and associated software tools
