Company Description

MUKA is a full-service architectural and interior design studio with offices in Los Angeles, working across ground-up, residential, retail, and hospitality projects. The team takes a holistic, narrative-driven approach, using visual storytelling, memory, and atmosphere to shape buildings and interiors that respond to context and collaborators. Studio MUKA is multidisciplinary, integrating architecture, interiors, and furniture design to create cohesive, experience-focused environments.

The studio emphasizes authenticity, material-driven emotion, and exploration throughout the design process to deliver spaces with lasting impact. Services range from feasibility studies and programming to construction documents, administration, 3D modeling, visualization, and procurement.

Role Description

The Architectural Designer will support projects from concept through construction, including preparing design studies, assisting with schematic and design development packages, and producing detailed construction drawings. Daily responsibilities include 3D modeling, drafting, rendering, and creating presentation materials that communicate design narratives and project intent. The role involves coordinating with internal team members and external consultants, assisting with documentation for construction, and participating in site visits, surveys, and construction administration tasks as needed.

The Architectural Designer will contribute to both architectural and interior-focused projects, helping to refine details, materials, and spatial layouts in line with Studio MUKA’s holistic design approach.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Construction Drawings, including plans, sections, elevations, and details suitable for permitting and construction.
  • Skill in Drawing and visual communication, including hand sketching and digital representation to convey design ideas clearly.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design and documentation software (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, Sketch Up, Adobe Creative Suite); familiarity with rendering tools (e.g., V-Ray) is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or a closely related field.
  • 2–5 years of relevant professional experience in architecture or interior architecture, preferably in residential, retail, or hospitality projects.
  • Strong sense of materiality, detailing, and spatial composition, with an interest in narrative-driven and holistic design.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary studio environment and manage deadlines.
  • Eligibility to work on-site in Los Angeles, CA; familiarity with local codes and permitting processes is a plus
