Senior Technical Apparel Designer in Los Angeles, CA

The Senior Technical Designer is a full-time, on-site role based in Los Angeles, CA. This role is responsible for translating design concepts into accurate technical packages, overseeing garment construction details, and guiding pattern development from prototype through production. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing technical specs, conducting fittings, documenting fit comments, and collaborating closely with designers, pattern makers, and production teams to ensure quality, consistency, and manufacturability.

The Senior Technical Designer will review samples, troubleshoot construction issues, and maintain standards for fit and sizing across collections. The role may also support spatial or structural design elements on select projects, ensuring technical integrity in line with the studio’s creative vision.

• Candidates should possess strong skills in Technical Design and Garment Construction, with experience creating detailed tech packs and overseeing construction standards.
• Candidates should possess advanced Fitting and Pattern Making skills, including interpreting fit issues, providing clear corrections, and collaborating with pattern makers and sample rooms.
• Candidates should possess relevant Architecture or structural design skills where applicable, with the ability to understand form, function, and material behavior in three-dimensional space.
• Candidates should have proficiency in industry-standard tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, CAD or pattern software) and strong documentation and measurement skills.
• Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of working cross-functionally with design and production teams.
• Candidates should have significant experience in a senior technical design or equivalent role; formal education in fashion design, technical design, architecture, or a related field is preferred.
