Adjunct – AY26 Men's Water Polo and Men's Swim/Dive Coach
Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is the largest community college district in the United States, serving more than 225,000 students annually across nine colleges in Southern California. This posting seeks a part‑time, adjunct applicant for the Men's Water Polo and Men's Swim/Dive Coach role for the 2026‑2027 Academic School Year. The position is open on an ongoing basis; applicants must submit through the LACCD web portal and will be considered for any future openings at the colleges.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree and two years of full‑time professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment; or
- Associate’s degree and six years of full‑time professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment;
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of district faculty, staff, and students.
A medical certificate indicating fitness to engage in administrative work is required for new employees at the applicant’s expense prior to employment.
Eligibility Requirements – COVID‑19 VaccinationAll students and employees must be fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption. Newly hired employees must provide vaccination status prior to starting or by the position start date.
Desirable Qualifications- Knowledge of 3C2A athletic rules and regulations.
- Educational background in Education, Physical Education, Exercise Sciences, or Kinesiology.
- Prior coaching experience in college or high‑school environments with a track record of program management.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with diverse groups.
- Comprehensive knowledge of all facets of the specified sports program.
- Proficiency in athletic recruitment methods and techniques.
- Financial management skills for budget preparation and fiscal oversight.
- Leadership and mentoring abilities for student‑athletes.
- Familiarity with 3C2A regulations, especially recruitment and retention.
- Teamwork and cooperation within a collaborative work environment.
- Administrative competence for decision‑making and procedural judgments.
- Instructional duties: classroom teaching, developing and assessing student learning outcomes, managing class rosters, timely grade submissions, and other instructional roles.
- Athletic operations: scheduling games, meets, practices; managing competitions, travel logistics; overseeing assistant coach hiring.
- Recruitment of players: scouting, identifying, and recommending student‑athletes, emphasizing diversity and competitiveness.
- Academic success: monitoring and supporting academic progress and eligibility compliance.
- Rules compliance: managing the Men's Aquatics program in strict adherence to 3C2A, WSC, LACCD Board rules, and Athletics Department policies.
- Community and college involvement: public relations, media promotion, donor relations, and fundraising support.
- Fiscal management: conducting fundraising activities and managing the program’s budget.
- Meeting attendance: regular participation in departmental, district, college, conference, and state meetings.
- Professional representation: representing LACCD professionally in all capacities.
- Cultural responsiveness: engaging with diverse students, faculty, staff, and community members.
- Flexible scheduling: availability for weekends, evenings, and holidays throughout the year.
- Curriculum development: participating in curriculum development and other part‑time faculty duties.
- Additional athletic‑related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
The position is paid as follows: ten standard teaching hours at the contractual hourly rate, a $18,870 stipend for out‑of‑class activities, two 6‑standard hour and one 3‑standard hour off‑season conditioning classes at the contractual rate, and an $884 per week playoff stipend for 3C2A playoff participation.
