JOB DESCRIPTION

Searching for a collaborative and ready to learn candidate who has prior experience working with students (ideally prior middle school experience) and experience coaching or supporting with sports programming. This position includes during the school day responsibilities (helping to lead the Physical Education program with the PE teacher) and after‑school responsibilities (driving students to and from games and coaching students during the games and practices).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Physical Education/PE Assistant Teacher Responsibilities (4.5 hours daily)
  • Create and submit lesson plans in a timely matter
  • Co‑lead daily PE lessons, drills, and skill‑building activities for middle school students
  • Support with the planning and implementation of a comprehensive, standards‑aligned physical education program
  • Promote physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and inclusive participation
  • Assist in organizing fitness assessments and tracking student progress
  • Support classroom management and ensure safe, structured learning environments during PE classes
  • Set up and break down equipment for daily instruction and special events
  • Monitor student safety and respond appropriately to injuries or behavioral concerns
  • Collaborate with school staff to align PE programming with overall student wellness goals
  • Assist with school‑wide fitness events, tournaments, and spirit activities
After‑School Coach & Athletics Transportation Duties (3.5 hours daily)
  • Serve as a coach for designated after‑school sports teams
  • Plan and lead practices that develop athletic skills, teamwork, and character
  • Supervise student‑athletes during practices, games, and related activities
  • Coordinate game‑day logistics, including uniforms, equipment, and communication with families
  • Safely transport students to and from athletic competitions using school‑approved vehicles
  • Ensure compliance with all student supervision, safety, and transportation policies
  • Maintain accurate attendance records for practices and games
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding schedules, expectations, and student progress
  • Support student‑athletes in maintaining academic eligibility and positive behavior
  • Represent the school with professionalism and model strong sportsmanship at all events
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree
  • Highly Preferred:
    At least one year of experience working with students in grades 6th‑8th (or similar age levels)
  • Ability to adapt to program requirements and needs
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, a plus
  • Ability to adhere to state school transportation guidelines (background checks, medical release, periodic drug testing)
  • Driver’s License
  • Comfort driving students to and from sports events
  • Experience playing or coaching sports (Volleyball, Foosball/Soccer, Basketball, as needed)
WAGE AND BENEFITS

This is a part‑time, 10‑month hourly position for the academic year with the option of summer work. The wage rate is: PE Assistant Teacher (4.5 hours daily): $21.00‑$28.00 and After‑School Sports Coach $25.00 - $35.00 per hour. Compensation is based on prior experience, relevant certifications and educational units.
