Description

Notre Dame Academy (NDA) in West Los Angeles is seeking a highly qualified, full-time, high school science teacher for the  school year. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success teaching high school biology and other science courses. Join a student-centered community with a strong commitment to our outstanding STEM program that has earned multiple AP Computer Science Female Diversity Awards, placed in the top ten in the National Rocketry Challenge, and has been invited to participate in the NASA Student Launch for three years in a row.

We seek an innovative, collaborative, and experienced science teacher who can fulfill the 21st century learning environment goals of Notre Dame Academy through clear and interactive instruction, thoughtful laboratory experiments, and meaningful real-world connections. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s or master’s degree in biology or a related field and successful high school teaching experience. This individual must be innovative, dynamic, energetic, organized, flexible, and hard working, and he or she must embody a growth mindset.

We seek faculty members who are intellectually curious, willing to grow professionally, student focused, dedicated to lifelong learning, and able to effectively collaborate with faculty, students, and parents to enhance our learning community.

Notre Dame Academy in West Los Angeles is an independent, all-girls, Catholic middle and high school founded by the Sisters of Notre Dame in 1949. NDA offers programs for grades TK-8 (co-ed) and 6-12 (all-girls) that create a launch pad for students to blossom with purpose. Devoted to educating young women to make a difference, Notre Dame Academy nurtures the development of the whole person by recognizing the dignity, uniqueness, and potential of each student and by constantly evolving to reflect the world outside the school’s walls.

NDA has been recognized by the College Board at the Platinum — or highest — level on the AP School Honor Roll for three years in a row, as well as earning the AP Access Award for our commitment to equitable access to advanced coursework each time that it was presented. At the high school, we challenge our graduates to be women of faith, academic excellence, vision, leadership, service, and compassion.

In support of the educational principles of the Sisters of Notre Dame, we aim for all of our faculty, staff, and administrators to be learners, experts, and community builders. Our intimate setting enables NDA to give each student the attention and support they need throughout their entire educational path. Diverse by nature, NDA fosters an environment where every student belongs and feels seen.

You will find NDA’s work environment to be kind, warm, welcoming, structured, balanced, lively, active, driven, ambitious, and experimental. Learn more about our community sla.org.
