The Los Angeles Unified School District seeks an outstanding Principal, Elementary to lead the students, staff, and community at Aragon Elementary towards academic success.

Aragon Avenue Elementary serves about 226 students in grades ETK-5th grade; the percentage of low-income students is 87.5%. Aragon has 95% Latinos, 2% White, 1% Asian and 2% other. There are 37% English Learners and 18% students with disabilities. Aragon participates in Project Lead, Los Angeles County District Attorney's premier law-related education program for 5th grade students. Aragon is part of the Creative Network, an arts education program that supports students in K-5.

Education Through Music is experienced by all students in ETK - 5. Aragon is a California Distinguished School. The school is located in Cypress Park at 1118 Aragon Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90065, and is part of the Glassell Park/Los Feliz Community of Schools.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

Will effectively collaborate with all stakeholder groups, be a great listener and have an open-door policy. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have knowledge of the California State Standards, LAUSD Leadership Framework, LAUSD Teaching and Learning Framework, English Learner Master Plan, Special Education, and District Instructional goals; the ability to supervise and evaluate the instructional program and facilitate professional development of all levels of personnel;

experience working collaboratively with all stakeholders and demonstrate professionalism and respect in all interactions; willingness to delegate responsibilities as they relate to our school’s climate and committee structure; strong and effective planning and organizational skills; the ability to work independently; excellent time management skills; the ability to multi-task while meeting commitments and deadlines; the ability to interpret data to inform decisions and develop action plans that will result in continuous and sustainable school budgets;

and the ability to support the successful positive school-wide behavior plan. The ideal candidate will lead collaboratively and support the arts, sciences, and technology while creating a safe, welcoming environment with clear expectations and mutual respect. SALARY:

40G - E Basis ($123,618 - $153,961) – 234 paid days

  • For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
  • For an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or over payment).
