Department Summary

Established in 1970 and formalized as a department within the Campus Life Division of Student Affairs in 2003, the Community Programs Office (CPO) serves as an essential resource for the UCLA student body. Originally housed in Dodd Hall, the CPO transitioned to the Student Activities Center following the student‑led SPARC referendum in 2000. The department provides comprehensive academic, professional, and personal support through programs focused on educational advancement, career development, and access to basic and essential needs resources, while fostering collaboration and engagement within the campus community.

By connecting students with these opportunities, the CPO helps them develop the leadership skills, career readiness, and practical problem‑solving abilities necessary for future success. Through continuous program development and direct support, the CPO remains dedicated to ensuring that students have the tools and resources they need to achieve their goals.
