Responsibilities
- Collaborate with school leadership, staff, families, and community stakeholders to assess needs and assets.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Community Schools plan aligned to school goals and the four pillars, including progress monitoring and annual progress report requirements.
- Build, manage, and sustain relationships with community-based organizations, businesses, government agencies, and service providers; establish MOUs, coordinate partner roles, and align external resources to meet scholars' academic, social, emotional, and basic needs.
- Coordinate wrap–around services such as tutoring, mental health, healthcare, enrichment, food access, college preparation, and after–school programs to ensure scholars and families are connected to appropriate supports.
- Strengthen family and community participation by organizing workshops, events, and leadership opportunities, promoting shared decision–making and a welcoming culture rooted in belonging, equity, and trust.
- Oversee the design and execution of programs that advance the four pillars of Community Schools, ensuring initiatives integrate into the school day and broader school culture.
- Collect, analyze, and use student, family, and program data to measure impact, identify gaps, and inform decision–making.
- Monitor partner performance, track outcomes, and adjust strategies to meet evolving needs.
- Serve as a liaison between school leadership, staff, families, and community partners, maintaining clear communication and addressing barriers to learning and equity.
- Identify and secure resources—including grants, donations, and partnerships—to expand services and sustain Community Schools initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive professional experience in a related field (e.g., academic support, mental health, after–school, youth development, or family support) with at least 1 year of school leadership experience in a public or charter school in an urban setting.
- Strong belief that all scholars, regardless of economic or social background, deserve a quality education and can earn a four–year college degree.
- A passion for working in systemically underserved communities and integrating anti–racist, pro–Black, student–centered practices.
- Ability to create a positive, achievement–oriented, supportive culture that motivates scholars to learn at college–preparatory levels.
- Proficiency in using data, technology, and innovative methods to monitor program effectiveness.
- Strong community expertise and knowledge of effective techniques to bring resources to the community.
- Growth mindset and commitment to continuous professional growth.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship–building skills with both children and adults.
