Job SummaryThe Summer Coordinator Intern will assist site coordinators, teachers, enrichment instructors, and program staff in supporting daily summer programming activities. Student workers will help supervise students, assist during academic and enrichment activities, support family enrollment and registration processes, prepare program materials, organize supplies, and promote a safe and engaging learning environment. Coordinators will gain hands-on experience in education, public service, business operations, customer service, event coordination, and leadership while exploring future career pathways.
ProgramOverview
The CTE Summer Program Student Worker will support Compton Unified School District's Summer Learning Programs across 15 elementary and middle school campuses during June and July. Student workers will assist with student supervision, enrichment activities, family engagement, program operations, and administrative support while gaining valuable career readiness and workplace experience. This position is designed to connect students to Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways while developing leadership, communication, customer service, education, and business administration skills in a professional educational environment.

- Assist instructors during ELA (English Language Arts) learning activities.
- Support sports, recreation, yoga, dance, performing arts, and enrichment sessions.
- Help prepare activity materials and learning resources.
- Provide encouragement and assistance to participating students.
- Welcome families and visitors to summer program sites.
- Assist with student registration and enrollment processes.
- Help families complete required forms and documentation.
- Provide general program information to parents and guardians.
- Participate in career readiness workshops and workplace learning experiences.
- Explore Career Technical Education pathways and career opportunities.
- Develop professional workplace skills including communication, collaboration, and problem-solving.
- Serve as positive role models for younger students.
- Assist with ordering, organizing, and distributing program supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify staff of needed materials.
- Help prepare classrooms and activity spaces for daily use.
- Prepare materials for daily program operations.
- Assist with attendance tracking and data entry.
- Organize student records and program documentation.
- Support office staff with filing, copying, and administrative projects.
