Summary
Charles R. Drew University is expanding its academic programs, including a new Four Year Medical Degree Program. As a clinical faculty member you will hold CDU faculty privileges such as continuing medical education, a CDU email account, access to a comprehensive library, and research support.
Responsibilities- Advance education, research, and clinical missions in collaboration with the Department Chair, staff, and leadership.
- Facilitate and support student training, champion educational improvements, and mentor students, residents, or fellows.
- Contribute to curriculum development, teaching, and research activities across disciplines.
- Serve as a role model, lead by example, foster academic excellence, and assist students with educational experience and socialization.
- Communicate effectively with faculty and staff, maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development through publications and training sessions.
- Quality assurance of patient care.
- Supervise activities of assigned medical students.
- Teach clinical care by demonstration or discussion.
- Evaluate clinical proficiency of students per College of Medicine policies.
- Advise students and Clerkship Directors who need remediation.
- Observe each student, offering advice or demonstration when needed.
- Review patient records after examination for thoroughness and validity.
- Repeat history or physical exam components as needed and correct inaccurate findings.
- Ensure students follow through with case disposition, patient education, and treatment plans.
- Evaluate each student clinician on performance and give feedback.
- Help students reach proficiency in clinical skills and judgment.
- Record student clinician attendance, punctuality, and appearance.
- MD or DO from a regionally accredited institution.
- Board certification in specialty of instruction.
- Academic credentials appropriate for appointment to COM faculty at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Professor.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to social justice and values‑driven curricula.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with administration, staff, peers, and faculty.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of and commitment to CDU mission.
- Working knowledge of CDU policies and procedures.
- Perform highly detailed work with sustained attention and care while managing multiple inquiries.
- Occasional stooping, frequent standing, constant walking, sitting, climbing, reaching high/low levels, finger movement, clear speaking, conversational hearing, and near/far vision.
- Occasional work in confined spaces.
- Frequent variety of unrelated tasks, constant calculation, interrupted work, sustained concentration, reasoning, judgment, resourcefulness, analytical ability, and ingenuity.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse community.
- COVID‑19 vaccination required for all faculty, staff, and students.
