Job Title: Campus Aide – 26-27 School Year
Job Location: SMCA – Los Angeles, CA 90008
Salary Range: $18.00 – $20.00 Hourly
Status: Full-time, Non-exempt, 12 month
Reporting to: Dean of Operations
Role SummaryThis Campus Aide will primarily support supervision of students during lunch and recess, oversee transitions to classes, and provide clerical support for teachers and office staff.
What you’ll doStudent Mentorship
- Behavioral guidance, support and mentorship
- Guide students’ behaviors in a positive way that teaches self‑respect and respect for others and the community
- Encourage positive interaction among students and peers
- Provide a variety of age‑appropriate activities promoting physical and emotional growth
Teacher Support
- Classroom behavior support for teachers
- Provide resources and referrals as needed for holistic success
- Orient and assist individuals or small groups of students
- Tutor individuals and small groups in various subject areas
- Assist with maintenance of a clean, safe, and pleasant classroom environment
- Assist in preparing instructional materials
- Maintain open lines of communication with the teacher and classroom team to ensure all students’ needs met
- Provide support to others and perform related duties as assigned
Other Duties
- Supervise hallways, arrival, and dismissal
- Coordinate day‑to‑day meal system operations
- Support the Dean of Students/School Counselor/Principal with restorative justice practices in the discipline process
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum:
- High school diploma required
- Ability to connect and build relationships with students and their families
- Ability to facilitate connections with students and faculty
- Experience working with at‑risk youth a plus
- Proactive approach essential
Desired (but not required):
- Bachelor’s Degree or college course units toward a BA desired
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including advocacy; fluency in Spanish highly desired
- Bilingual in Spanish or Korean preferred
- Analyze written, spoken, visual, and other sensory stimuli
- Understand and analyze written and spoken English
- Coping effectively with stressful situations and time constraints
- Make sound judgments based on available information
- Engage in frequent student/parent/coworker contact
- Remain calm in emergency situations
- Perform effectively under pressure and tight deadlines
- Maintain accuracy and attention to detail
- Adapt to changing priorities and work demands

- Provide and follow detailed written and verbal instructions

- Occasional exposure to extreme or varying temperatures
- Occasional exposure to outdoor elements such as sun, precipitation, and wind or wet/humid surroundings
- Occasional exposure to loud noise, fumes, smoke, dust
- Prolonged sitting/standing
- Frequent walking
- Occasional/frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects up to 30 pounds
- Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, climbing, crawling, and/or squatting
- Frequent reaching and twisting, including above shoulder height
- Manual dexterity and repetitive hand motions, frequent writing and typing
- Frequent computer use with keyboard and mouse
- Speaking and hearing essential for communication needs
- Physically present at worksite; occasional travel for meetings or conferences
- Wearing appropriate safety equipment for tasks (gloves, goggles, aprons, belts, etc.)
