Opportunity
We are seeking talented educational leaders with a desire to foster high levels of academic achievement in urban middle and high schools. Principals are held accountable for delivering student results in line with the goals agreed upon. We are looking to fill positions for the 2026-27 school year, with a start date of July1,2026.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Hire and develop school staff (certificated and classified)
- Serve as administrator and instructional leader, directing and supervising the curriculum and guidance program of the school
- Plan the master schedule of classes and assign certificated staff members
- Evaluate the performance of teachers and other employees, coaching them on individual development
- Craft student discipline policies to meet the needs of the unique student population
- Direct financial and human resources at the school site
- Plan the school budget and manage business operations
- Work closely with parents and the community at large
- Initiate and implement community support and advisory groups
- Be accountable for students’ overall academic performance
- Be available to parents, students and staff to discuss progress and problems after class, at night or on weekends, via cell phone or in person
- Maintain work hours extending beyond school hours for staff meetings, supervision of student events, and other professional duties
- Maintain professional standards and create a productive, safe, and focused school environment
- Participate in Green Dot and individual professional development
- Participate in events that promote or develop our organization and schools, such as student recruitment
- Possess a growth mindset and love of learning
- Hold a valid CA Clear Single Subject, Education Specialist, or Multiple Subject teaching credential; or a Pupil Personnel Services credential in School Counseling; or an equivalent out‑of‑state credential transferable to California
- Hold a valid CA Administrative Services credential (or Certificate of Eligibility); or an equivalent out‑of‑state credential transferable to California; or be enrolled in a CA Administrative Services credential program
- Have a minimum of 5 years of teaching or counseling experience at the middle or high school level, with a history of improving student achievement
- Have prior experience as an Assistant Principal and other leadership roles (mentor teacher, department chair, etc.)
- Demonstrate management and leadership capabilities, including team‑building skills
- Show experience managing budgets, creating and implementing policies, and managing systems
- Be bilingual (English/Spanish) – highly desirable
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills
- Have experience working in an entrepreneurial environment
- Passion for improving urban middle and high schools and driving education reform
- Knowledgeable about bilingual education
- Capable of establishing and fostering a positive and safe school culture
- Experience planning and implementing quality professional development and coaching teachers
- Strategically engage stakeholders
- Resolve conflicts effectively
- Make data‑driven decisions
- Manage multiple teams and resources
- Create and monitor strategic plans
- Be dependable, humble, possess a sense of humor, and commit fully to Green Dot’s mission and the communities we serve
- Pass a TB test and background check at the time of offer
- * To be considered for an Administrator position, the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) requires five years of successful, full‑time experience in a public, nonpublic, or private school of equivalent status in California or another state, or a combination of experience earned in California and another state.
- Work hours require consistent attendance during scheduled hours; flexibility is limited by classroom or operational requirements.
- Breaks are structured within the workday and must align with operational needs and student care requirements; extended or frequent breaks may not be feasible.
- Physical requirements may include interacting with students and moving through various parts of the school.
