Position Overview
Physical Education Teacher – Los Angeles,CA. Reports to Principal. Exempt position with 10‑month pay cycle. Salary starting at $68,000, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging Physical Education lessons aligned to California State Standards.
- Teach skills, knowledge and attitudes for lifelong physical activity and healthy living.
- Design and implement units covering individual sports, team sports, fitness and movement skills.
- Differentiated instruction for diverse learners, including ELLs and students with IEPs or 504 plans.
- Integrate social‑emotional learning to foster teamwork, sportsmanship and self‑regulation.
- Maintain a safe and organized learning environment in the gym, field and outdoor spaces.
- Build positive, respectful relationships with students and model ICEF’s RECIPE philosophy.
- Implement Positive Behavior Intervention and Support practices.
- Collaborate with the Dean and school counselor to support behavioral and social‑emotional needs.
- Communicate regularly with families about progress and wellness.
- Support school‑wide culture initiatives, including pep rallies, athletic events and extracurricular programming.
- Assess student fitness and skill development using diverse tools; maintain accurate records.
- Use data to inform instructional decisions and set goals.
- Participate in data analysis cycles and collaborative planning with grade‑level and content‑area teams.
- Attend professional development, staff meetings, school events and parent information nights as required.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support a cohesive, high‑performing school culture.
- Maintain equipment and facilities in safe condition; report hazards promptly.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Possibly work beyond school hours for events, Saturday school or other duties.
- Stand, walk, run, demonstrate activities, and supervise outdoors.
- Communicate clearly with students and staff.
- Lift, move or carry equipment up to 50lbs.
- Demonstrate sports and movement activities and monitor large groups.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology or related field.
- Valid California Single‑Subject Teaching Credential in Physical Education.
- Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain).
- Strong record of fostering student engagement, physical development and healthy habits.
- Knowledge of California State Standards and Fitness Gram assessment.
- Commitment to equity and inclusion in all settings.
- Excellent classroom management, communication and organization skills.
- Proficiency with Google‑based applications.
- Tuberculosis (TB) clearance.
- Background check clearance.
- Commitment to educational equity and ICEF’s mission.
- At least 2 years teaching physical education in a public or charter school.
- Experience coaching youth athletics or extracurricular sports programs.
- Fluent in English and Spanish.
- Master’s Degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology or related field.
