Substitute Teacher, Special Education Teacher
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in the academic discipline you would like to serve as a substitute in; MA preferred
- Experience in teaching middle or high school students
- A student-centered approach, creating an environment that engages student voices
- Strong teamwork skills and demonstrated collegiality and organization
- Flexibility to adjust to the varied demands of different classroom settings, including the ability to read and follow another teacher’s lesson plans
- Ability to communicate concepts clearly and concisely to students and foster a collaborative and creative learning environment

We will interview qualified candidates, screening them generally and, where appropriate, through department-specific conversations.
Candidates selected for the substitute teacher talent pool will be asked to complete employment eligibility requirements, including reference checks, background screening, and onboarding paperwork. Because substitute teaching assignments often arise on short notice, these requirements must be completed in advance of any confirmed employment or assignment. Only candidates who have successfully completed all pre-employment and onboarding requirements will be eligible to accept substitute teaching opportunities as they become available.

We are an independent school consisting of two campuses located in Los Angeles, California. We have approximately 1,600 curious, thoughtful, and inspiring students enrolled in grades seven through twelve.

The substitute pay rate is $40 per hour with a minimum 4-hour guarantee per day. Compensation for long-term substitutes (two weeks or more) is based on a prorated annual salary of $85,000.
