International Admission Counselor
This position works with both undergraduate and graduate students in International Admission and Outreach. The International Admission Counselor will provide admission counseling to prospective international students and be responsible for the day-to-day communications with students in person, telephone or email. Perform a varied of functions to develop relationships with prospective and current students, to understand their end goal(s), and to aid them in inquiring, applying, finding their "fit", visiting, earning admission, enrolling and studying at Loyola Marymount University.
Acts as a representative of LMU in recruitment events and meets with prospective students on campus.
- Review applications for admissions from prospective international applicants to LMU and make admission decision on applications.
- Plan outreach activities and events targeting international students, including recruitment travel, on campus programs, and hosting visitors from the US and abroad on campus.
- Manage international admission email account and the communication flow to international prospects, applicants, and admitted students. Develop emails and strategies to reach out to prospective parents and students.
- Actively collaborate with other university staff involved in various aspects of admissions, records and financial aid processing, to ensure that the applicant has all necessary information.
- Supervise immigration mailings to admitted international students, material shipment for recruitment travel, and provides LMU promotional materials to external audiences.
- Manage international application materials and reviews undergraduate applications for admission. Make independent admission decisions on applications for admission to LMU.
- Participate in the development of marketing materials and resources supporting international outreach and internationalization activities.
- Liaison with Transfer Enrollment Services at LMU to coordinate the recruitment, admission review, and advisement of international transfer students.
- Collaborate with other LMU departments and personnel who support international student outreach, retention, international alumni development, and institutional internationalization activities.
- Represents International Admission and Outreach at college fairs, secondary schools, and universities.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Requisite Qualifications
- Typically a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills and abilities needed to keep abreast of trends in the field and policy changes.
- Minimum two years experience in international admissions and recruitment, international student services, or campus internationalization activities is highly desirable. Fluency in a foreign language a plus.
- Ability to mange time and balance multiple and fast changing responsibilities and priorities
- Ability to independently responds to and composes correspondence.
- Strong planning and organizational skills. Must be highly motivated, self-directed, detailed and results oriented with the ability to maintain multiple projects.
- Exemplary verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate in a culturally appropriate manner.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with special sensitivity to the needs and expectations of prospective international students.
- May update standard information/data to website/blog within the applications content management system.
- Demonstrated computer competency and proficiency in common internet and web technologies, standard spreadsheet and relational database software, such as Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint.
