Los Angeles Trade Technical College (LATTC) is in search of a highly innovative, motivated and dynamic individual seeking to become Dean of Student Services overseeing Counseling, EOPS, LGBTQ, Next Up & CARE, Umoja, Guardian Scholars and Kinship Care and Puente. The Dean of Student Services will provide leadership in the areas of supervision in support of our Pathway to Academic, Career, and Transfer Success (PACTS) student success framework.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:·
Master's degreefromanaccreditedcollegeor university .
· Complet i onof
one
yearoffull-timeformaltrain i ng , internship or leadership experience reasonably related totheadministrativeassignment.
· Sensitivitytoandanunderstandingofthediverseacademic , socioeconomic , cultural , disability , and ethnic backgrounds of community college students .
DESIRABLEQUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experiencewithsimilarstudentsupportprograms i nacommunitycollege setting.
2. Accomplishedinparticipatorymanagement , budgeting andfinancialplanning , strategic planning , leadership , problem solving , and team building .
3. Excellent communication skills , bothwrittenandoral , and experience with leading presentations using appropriate technological resources .
DUTIES&CORE COMPETENCIES:
1. Leads assigned areasinthere-engineering,adoption and integration of best practices to streamline processes and procedures toreduce barriers for student success.
- Serve as Dean responsible for overseeing Counseling, EOPS, LGBTQ, Next Up & CARE, Umoja, Guardian Scholars and Kinship Care and Puente.
- Provides direction, oversight and functional supervision to the faculty, staff in areas of responsibility.
- Provides leadership to program staff to streamline processes, ensure quality in the delivery of services, and monitor enrollments and retention of program participants in Counseling, EOPS, LGBTQ, Next Up & CARE, Umoja, Guardian Scholars and Kinship Care and Puente
- Works collaboratively with the Vice President of Student Services and Vice President of Instruction Services to bring quality Counseling and other student support services to students within the pathway’s framework.
- Works cooperatively with other student services programs and services and campus entities to meet the priorities of the college including enrollment targets and student success metrics.
- Implements effective strategies to increase student persistence.
- Complies with local, state, and federal laws, regulations, policies, and procedures; and recommends and implements changes as needed in consultation with Vice President.
- Safeguard the integrity of student records for areas of responsibility.
- Prepares, disseminates and delivers reports to various campus constituency groups.
- Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
- Stays current i nissues andinitiativesfromfederal , stateand local entities and leads the implementation of these in i tiatives at LATTC .
- Provides leadership for program review , including improvement and development ; systematic assessment of student progress and learning outcomes ; andreviewandrecommend changestomaintainrelevantprograms andto meet student and commun i ty needs and accreditation standards .
- Catalyzes i nvo l vement and commitment of students , faculty , staff , business , and community members to develop , assess , and strengthen assigned student services programs andthe student experience at LATTC .
