CYE Arts Faculty Member

A CYE faculty member for the arts serves as a teacher and/or counselor in one of our youth education and engagement programs. Your responsibilities include planning, alongside your assigned teenage assistants, compelling, differentiated learning or engagement experiences that deepen students' understanding and appreciation of Jewish identity through art; creating a nurturing and supportive environment for students; supervising your classroom or camp experience to ensure compliance with Wise regulations and values;

and proactively communicating with fellow staff and parents.

Duties/Responsibilities are specific to each program include:

  • Camp Wise Sundays:
    Prepares and supervises camp and classroom art activities for students. Coordinates with madrichim and faculty to ensure seamless experience. Regularly assesses student community and reports behavioral issues and friendships to Assistant CYE Director. Models Jewish values and principles for children, while ensuring physical, spiritual, and emotional safety of students.
  • T'filah Studies:
    Prepares and supervises camp and classroom art activities for students. Coordinates with madrichim and faculty to ensure seamless experience. Regularly assesses student community and reports behavioral issues and friendships to Assistant CYE Director. Models Jewish values and principles for children, while ensuring physical, spiritual, and emotional safety of students.
  • Hebrew Studies:
    Prepares and supervises camp and classroom art activities for students. Coordinates with madrichim and faculty to ensure seamless experience. Regularly assesses student community and reports behavioral issues and friendships to Assistant CYE Director. Models Jewish values and principles for children, while ensuring physical, spiritual, and emotional safety of students.
  • Teen Studies:
    Prepares and supervises camp and classroom art activities for students. Coordinates with madrichim and faculty to ensure seamless experience. Regularly assesses student community and reports behavioral issues and friendships to Assistant CYE Director. Models Jewish values and principles for children, while ensuring physical, spiritual, and emotional safety of students.

  • Diplomatic, tactful, and possessing the ability to show grace under pressure.
  • Empathic to the needs and differing dynamics of families and students who attend our programs.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship-building skills; team-oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills; self-motivated and responsible.
  • Strong educational technology skills preferred, or strong willingness to learn.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of Stephen Wise Temple.
  • Reflective practitioner with a growth mindset.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, or bend.
  • May need to lift and carry items up to [10–25 lbs], such as files or teaching supplies.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with team members and clients, in person and via phone or video.

As a key staff member in our religious educational institution, you will serve as a role model of our faith's tenets, demonstrating them daily to our members and the broader Temple community. This position plays a vital role in transmitting the expectations and values of our faith, ensuring that the Temple continues to minister effectively to the needs of our students and members.
