Assistant Director of Interfaith & Social Justice Initiatives, Campus Ministry

This position is committed to the mission of Campus Ministry (CM) at Mount Saint Mary's University, as well as to the professional standards of the University and the Catholic Campus Ministry Association. Provides pastoral leadership for the Associate of Arts degree student population, and for the general promotion of the Campus Ministry mission on the Chalon campus and the entire University.

Work Location:Doheny Campus (Downtown Los Angeles) and Chalon Campus (West Los Angeles)

Start Date:Immediately

Annual Salary Rate: $70,700.00

Monthly Salary Rate: $5,891.67

Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate's qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• In the absence of the Director, and at his/her request or that of the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Assistant Director acts in the Director's place, in areas including but not restricted to: participation with, and education of, the entire college community; participation in, and communication with, Church-related entities beyond the University; spiritual leadership and pastoral care as needed; time-sensitive decision-making.
• Provides administrative oversight to the areas of the Campus Ministry office. Primarily responsible for the service of AA traditional undergraduate students (TUS) on the Chalon campus, including:
• Supervision and formation of student ministers and other personnel related to AA-TUS programs
• Organization of the office
• Safety of the office and office personnel

3. Provision and Oversight of AA-TUS programming in:

• Liturgy and Prayer
• Spirituality and Spiritual Growth
• Community Service and Social Justice
• Festivities and Events
• Community-on-Campus
• Sacramental Preparation
• Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations

4. Provides pastoral care for all of the Chalon TUS of every religious tradition

5. Provides excellent liturgy and prayer services on the Chalon campus for aprimarily traditional undergraduate assembly, with a special emphasis on the Catholic Mass

6. Provides opportunities for all Chalon traditional undergraduates to learn about Catholic Social Teaching

7. Handles the recruitment, training, spiritual/ministerial development, scheduling,

supervision and evaluation of approximately 12-15 Chalon traditional undergraduate student ministers

8. Handle the hiring, oversight and scheduling of stipended professional ministersserving the Chalon traditional undergraduate student population, including priests for Mass and Reconciliation Services, other professional ministers for services and events, speakers for retreats and student ministry training, and others, as needed

9.Collaboratively participates in, and lead, major college events, such as Admitted Students days, Orientation, Welcome Week activities, Graduation activities, President's Dinner, Convocations, and others as needed

10.Collaborates with the entire Campus Ministry team regarding college-wide Campus Ministry- sponsored events, such as the Masses of the Holy Spirit, Commencement Masses, the Easter Sacraments liturgy, and others, as needed; collaborate in student ministry training and supervision, budget and resources, policies, calendaring and development of programs

11.Supervises and oversees the Chalon campus chapel and sacristy

12.Engages in continued professional education in theology, ministry and administration

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists the Director in all areas of Campus Ministry, as requested and needed.

Collaborates with faculty, staff and student organizations in the University, especially in the Student Affairs Division

Collaborates with other Catholic institutions and organizations, including the offices of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Loyola Marymount University, the Catholic Campus Ministry Association, and ,the National Council of Catholic Bishops, in serving the needs of the Chalon traditional undergraduates

Serves on various campus or University committees, as assigned

Performs other job-related duties as assigned
